@ Karom
For me it is books. I know it sounds silly but living in a small flat, and bringing the bargain buys from Oxfam have slowly filled my backroom to the point where the book discussion has become a recurrent theme with my partner.
Karom, I have solved this by looking up my fave book on Amazon, reading the reviews, checking online at the local library and then ordering from them. Provided I remember to take them back it's saved me a small fortune. Dawn French's autobiography next.
What to drop this year......well I would say the boyfriend but already did that in 2009.
I think Cheap tatty 'who's got cellulite on their ear' type magazines. I'll try and take a library book with me instead.

Are you from/living in the uk?
live in rural Perthshire! Most people up here are too busy with their animals to even think about sitting watching a soap at 8pm!
Seriously, my family rarely watch tv, none of my friends do, I've always wondered where I live previously and used to walk the dog past people's houses and see them sitting watching tv every night.0 -

I live in the UK but am originally american, but despite my supremely couch-potato nationalities I similarly cant understand the TV obsession! Whenever Im around one there seems to be nothing on, and its a very expensive possession with TV licence fees and all! Our flatmate had one at the old place, we never ever turned it on and haven't missed it for a moment since we left.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

I pledge to drop - buying magazines. I have a penchant for BBC Focus and BBC History mags, both cost almost £4 each:eek:. Then there's Empire at almost the same. If I drop them all that's almost £200 a year.
Thanks for a great thread idea.
P.S What am I saying - "if" I drop them? This is a DFW challenge and I will do it

Hi
I gave up books last January when we estimated we had about 3,000 in the house and more stored. I was also expecting twins so we realised that we needed the money. Well, I have done really well and not bought ANY in a year and listed loads on green metropolis and Amazon. I gave up GM as books weren's shifting and after an initial flurry the same with Amazon. I now am giving away books to my friends that feels really nice and charity bookshops that is also good. I visit my library about twice a week and order books in (although it costs me £1.50, not impressed) when I want them. I also have not boughtmany books for my twins but take them to to the library too.
I don't think that I've made much money but as I was buying 2 books a week (new and secondhand) I reckon that I have saved about £500 a year and also a lot of storage space.
My DH has not stopped buying books that winds me up and Amazon asked him to be a reviewer so he gets even more now. Hey ho, lead by example, I say!Debt = £2,987 Coop Members CC (until 01/09/10)

I gave up my TV some time ago - I only ever regret it when the 6 Nations rugby is on and I have to go out to watch it!
I find people are shocked when I say I don't have one, but I really can not imagine going back to owning a TV.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
