CherryPie, you inspire me to go and start again on the wii fit and practice yoga again. Been getting home too late from work to enjoy and week ends I have either out or on the bike. Excuses excusesMFW on your mark0

Just read thru this thread
Got my thinking cap on now about what I can give up.....?
But for all the people out there who are giving up buying books, there is a great website I am a member of (although it is not great in Northern Ireland, although I believe it is better in Mainland) its bookcrossing, I don't know whether anyone has heard of it, but you simply attach a free (these are available to purchase but there is also a free version) sticker on the book and when you have finished reading the book, you release it and log this on the website and then others can go and collect it!
It may give a bit of spontaniety to your reading list, but adds to the excitement.
Hope this helps some of you, and good luck.

For me, it's going to have to be: No more crockery / cookware / utensils, UNLESS I need them / have broken old ones.

Hi all,
I'm completely new to the forum and would like to join in with the whole Drop one thing 2010 thing.
Am I too late???
If I could drop one thing it would be take aways. There's always something in the house to cook, even if it's not as desirable as a dominos! yet we always give in and get a take away.
As well as giving up take aways, when i consider getting one I'm going to put the cost of the take away into a jar, then maybe I'll realise how much money I actually waste on take outs!!0 -

I should really do this too, Little Lu. I'm not brave enough to tackle that bad habit yet!Maybe I'll work up to this for 2011!!
One thing I have done to stop the amount of pizzas we order is always have frozen puff pastry in - last week we had the dominos urge but made our own little creation with bacon, veg and cheese and a little tomato puree. Wasn't half bad.
Welcome to the thread!0 -
I would like to join in too please, and, it seems - like so many others - that it's BOOKS that I need to give up. I have a whole bookcase full of unread books, besides many more shelves of read ones.
I have been using the library more recently (60p to reserve a book on line is cheaper than buying 2nd hand), but I really need to concentrate on reading more of the "to be read" ones that I already have.
So doing this with all of you may just give me the incentive!

I know we're almost halfway through the year but may I join in please? :j
For me it has to be no more buying books until I've read what I have. When they're finished they can go on Bookmooch / Readitswapit or to a charity shop. I need to be able to see space on the bookshelves again. Also, no more DVDs until I've watched them all!

The books one is so difficult though! I resisted the bookshelf in the charity shop today - I've put them on my Amazon wish list - I know I've got plenty at home to read this year so if I get the others I want at Christmas then I should be happy...right!?! Just so impossible to see a book you want to read and it's only £1 - £2 and not buy it!! I'm enjoying a library book at the moment though and have loads on my shelf so why do I need any more?!!!
I've been doing well with my fizzy drinks from the machine at work! None so far (as far as I remember...) and June is almost over! I can do this!! Have been to the machine for snacks once.
