I have just finished my 2nd book. Great start till I get to the few pages and start to wonder how they are going to wrap up the story in so few pages. Damned the book is the 1st of a series of 4 bought in the early 90's from the 70's. Well I don't think I'll ever know the end :)
... or was this a test to see if I would try to find the other 3 and buy them.

Going in the backroom to find another one. Can't see any difference in space saving so far but early start :) At least I am still not buying any

  • Sounds like a good read, karom :). What book is it?

OK, here goes... I'm going to give up buying fizzy drinks at work. Usually do this for 6 weeks a year so I've had some practice!

Really glad of this challenge - not missed fizzy drinks at all. Buy 2 x 2l bottles of fizzy water a week or so for home and drink the same at work, or tea. Can't believe how easy it's been for me. Annoyed I used to waste 80p a time on drinks I could easily go without.
  • That's a good result La escocesa :). Not only are you saving money your water is a healthier option too! I think giving up fizzy drinks is something else i should do too. Did the shopping today and was soooo tempted to buy some cans of coke. I could drink a gallon of the stuff each day :o. Decided against buying and feel better for it :).

On the downside i bought a newspaper (my challenge), but that was because my mum wanted it. Damn, i went 5 days straight without buying too :(. Never mind, back on the bandwagon tomorrow :D.

    Can I join you all??

I was going to go for magazines as they are so expensive and all full of the same c**p anyway, but I'm going to keep my Prima subscription, as it takes me the full month to read it and then I pass it on to Mum. So at £15? a year, it'll be my one magazine-vice.

But.... I'm going to drop the snack / juice vending machines at work, and also when I occasionally work at another site, maybe 3-4 times a month, I'm going to resist the £3 coffee twice a day!!

All the little things add up!

Hi coffee-break, book is "TO YOUR SCATTERED BODIES GO" Book one of the Riverworld series from Philip Jose Farmer.

Lots of concepts in it made me think of the Matrix.
Started a nice Stephen King, Carrie - easy read, just a nice way to start the day in the tube :rotfl:

I found one of those money saving tins in a charity shop recently, you know, the ones you can't open without a tin opener. 70p it was, so I'm going to use that to save the money I would have spent.

I even have a goal now too. I got a new contract phone in October, and I got a free Wii with it. (I must have been the only person in the country without one) Needless to say, it has never been out of the box. But, if I save enough from my vending machine / coffee habit, I shall buy myself a Wii Fit to go with the Wii. Then I can do yoga n stuff and not worry about looking silly in front of other people if I fall over!! :rotfl:

I'm looking forward to it already!

  • Morning peeps, welcome to the newbies

karom, :rotfl: What a great way to start the working week! Carrie is a terrific film, but i've not read the book. The only thing i've read this week is the John Terry story . Honestly, it was my mum really who asked me to buy the Sunday paper... i wouldn't have bought it otherwise .

Anyway, back on track today... will be putting the newspaper money into the moneybox instead .
