I have now received an email from 18866 saying that there had been an error and I would not be charged. I am posting this in case anyone else needs advice in this direction.

I followed advice in one of the other postings and sent them a 'fault' email, this has prompted the reply above.

I will obviously keep a check on my credit card but it does look like they are trying to do something - unless you know differently!!!

    I hope this helps.

As an extra post on the subject of "1899, 18866, and the other one.
If you have Internet banking the company comes up as connect telecom.

And in the past if they have given me any grief, I and I, repeat.... I stop the DD there and then via my online Banking,, as easy as trurning a swith on or off.

After I received my email from call18866 this morning (telling me to ignore recent invoices due to their technical error) I logged in and cancelled my (phone number) and subscription.

Guess what? just got another email from them with another invoice (number 29) dated 27th July 2010, but without a my phone number and other details (probably cause I'd cancelled it - even though I hadn't used call18866 for 1 year +).

I too have had 2 emails saying I owed them money, tried to log in and couldn't, then sent them an email (after hunting for the link)and received the same reply (technical problems)as the rest, then was able to log in today and find 8 invoices dated the 2.07.2010, I can't check my credit card as I am in the USA, so hopefully they won't take any money out. Will have to sort it out when I get back.

any more news on this problem?
  • TrishaM don't worry they sent out an email on Tuesday,

    "Dear 18866 user,

Due to a technical error in our system we accidentally sent out incorrect invoices.
Please ignore these invoices and we apologize for any inconvenience!

    Best regards,

    The 18866 team"

I've checked my 18866 account online and all the invoices are still dated 02-07-2010, so no change there.

On the plus side, no money has been taken from my account.

(edit - Plus I also received the email above saying to ignore the emails.)

Just a quick update. I logged into my 18866 account and they've cleared it of all previous invoices/call records. The only thing showing is my 'To be invoiced' item.

I hope this puts a line under this whole business once and for all.
