DFW Quest - your most helpful tip!

i was thinking about this earlier, i think the most single handed helpful tip by far is to use cash. i do all my banking online but on a monday withdraw IN CASH, my money for the week, food and living expenses. this helps me to see in cold hard cash terms exactly what i am spending. i can do a mini budget with this money to make sure i spend in the right areas, the correct amounts.

what other tips do you DFW's have which could help newbies and regular DFW's alike? please share you most helpful tips!!

    Good idea JD!

My top tip has to be - keep a spending diary. As long as you do it honestly its the best way to see exactly where your money goes and to face up to areas that might need cutting back. It also works a treat in stopping me from buying things in the first place because I know I have to record the cost in my diary and can't bury my head in the sand about it!!

Looking forward to everyone's tips :D

think about the difference between WANT and NEED. Once you have mastered this becoming debt free will be quicker and more painless.
