my biggest tip for money saving would be the same one i use for dieting.
allow oneself a regular treat, in my case i get a bag of crisps on a sunday night, which is my treat for the week. i also set myself goals with a bigger treat for achieving them, for example there is a necklace in asda that i really want, it's only £10 but i told myself that when i lost a whole stone i would get it. i reached that target this week so when i get paid on thursday i'm spoiling myself0 -
All the above apply for me too but here is one that I dont think has been mentioned:
Sign up for loads of freebies from the freebies board (including pigsback/quidco etc). The feeling of getting something for nothing (even if its only a few dishwasher tablets) is as good as spending on a "bargain"The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

If you can make it home, don't buy one in a shop, especially food, You can normally get twice as much for the same price if not less!Wealth is not measured by currency0

Spending diary is a must. Then (sorry, i'm an auditor, get a bit anal at times!!!) go through it every month and 'traffic light' it - green if necessary & couldn't get it cheaper, orange if necessaryish or almost cheapest, you all know what red means:eek:
Also, make quidco your new bestest friend!!!!:TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I'm up there with JD....splash out only CASH. You see that it's real money you're spending, and it can make you reluctant to part with it. :T
It's NOT 'plastic fantastic' nor is it a credit card it's a DEBT card. :eek:0 -
Go shopping!
... once a week with your shopping list at the ready based on your meal plans for a week.
Treat yourself!
... to something free once a day. Go for a walk, pick up a free newspaper and enjoy it over a cuppa, borrow a bonkbuster from the library.
Buy new clothes!
... from Ebay, charity shops and carboots - learn to sew and update or customise what you find.
Aim for luxury at all times!
... paint your nails, sprinkle pumpkin seeds on your salad, take a home-made lunch into work and feel smug as your workmates ooh and aah.
Paarty every weekend!
... there's always someone throwing a DFW party on here and this weekend's offerings were the most fun I've had in ages. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160
