Ahhh top tips on here.
For me I have to concur with:
Spending diary - absolutely. You have to see the error of your ways and this is the best way. Write it every day - and then READ IT BACK!! If you don't do this: :eek: at least once or twice then you're either doing pretty well already or perhaps you don't care about spending money.
Make meals from scratch at home Oh yes. See those shopping bills tumble. Soups, casseroles, curries & chillis just for initial ideas, and if you go vegetarian then so much the better for your purse!
Don't give a stuff about what other people think

Keep your goal in sight at all times (and plan a nice treat for when you get there), of course there will be bad days a well as good days, but if you keep on chipping away and making progress (however small) you wil get there in the end.0

Great great tips on here
I treat myself every now & then otherwise i would totally fall off the wagon.
I have to remind myself that I do have a life apart from trying to become debt free and all of my friends are not always interested in my trying to be a real Scottish meanie!!
This week I have ordered a wee rebounder and a handle so will soon be bouncing away & hopefully becoming fitter too!

Don't buy unnecessary things on credit.
Save up for it and then buy it.
If it's gone then you weren't meant to have it.2014 Target;

What a great thread! My tip is to send the dreaded monthly payment ASAP after it's due instead of waiting and sending it whenever. As that well known ad says ... every little helps and over time it does save small amounts of interest - which are more interesting in my pockets than in the cc company's pockets!You - only you- will have stars that can laugh :rotfl:

If you really must keep a credit card for emergencies, make sure that it's only for emergencies, by keeping it in a cup of water in the freezer.
That way you can't be tempted to nip out to the shops for a treat!DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -

How often do you remove said cup from the freezer to prevent it frosting over? :rotfl::eek: What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
