Far more importantly - my dad has just called... he's leaving Norfolk (he's just gone past kazm and apparently it's snowing hardand wants to know whether to go to Gloucestershire (near Bristol) via Birmingham or go Northampton/Oxford/Newbury/M4...
Any news on road/weather conditions along either route would be welcomed...
It's still sunny with no snow here in Gloucestershire, but we are warned that its spreading from the north this evening. Have just checked the roads and I reckon he's better staying as far south as possible and just keep moving to get there asap. Roads around B'ham M6 are slow (15 - 25mph) at mo...I'd go via Oxford.
Right. All clothes off floor and on bed, sorted into type. Need to decide what to keep. How do people store boots? Have no room in bottom of wardrobe or underbed. Re: First Aid box - we bought one and put it on wall in downstairs loo. Thought it was a good idea but if you open it fast and the toilet seat is up, contents go down the loo :rotfl:0 -
We have 2/3 inches of snow and its sooo beautiful, wish you all could see it, huge flakes like white feathers falling...

Either route will be carp if it snow heavily.
But I'm J16 of the M4 and it is bright and sunny here at the moment. Though snow is expected this afternoon.
I don't know how far up the country Kazm is. So how far from me is he?
Thanks Tag (and cosmomo... multiquote failed... didn't press hard enough ). He's probably around Peterborough at the moment, so bringing the snow down with him... I'll tell him to avoid Birmingham!
Koolkid - maybe you should be the first to sign up for the 2010 ironing challenge... you have to get it all done by midnight on NYE0 -

Hello everyone!
Well, I was determined to get on with the kitchen today, but workmen arrived to sort out some odds and sods of plumbing and carpentry - most in the kitchen! So I think I'm better off waiting till tomorrow when they have finished and gone or I'll be doing at all again.
I've finished putting away all the Christmas stuff in the dining room instead, and hoovered all the fairy dust out of the carpet. How can so much glitter*still* fall off 10-yr-old nearly-skeletal swags???
And I've made a mince and beany base casserole which now needs some sliced potatoes putting on top, hotpot style. And done some paperwork; and a lot of printing (wireless connection wouldn't let me print recently so I needed to sort it out). And worked out the meals for the next week or so, so that I can do a half-decent shop tomorrow (snow permitting).
I'm Bucks/Oxfordshire and we have bright sunshine at the mo, BTW.
Right. Potatoes next; then I may make a start on the bedroom. Gotta get a few things crossed off!
MissH

I can get to it, and more to the point, I actually know where it is
but I don't want it cluttering the place up (besides which, it rarely has what I need it in... savlon, plasters and dressings... I'm adding some mepore, mefix, hydrocortisone cream, crepe bandage, tubigrip and zinc oxice tape).

ETA Just looked at it and I would say to go Northampton/Oxford way and he looks like he might miss the worst
Forgot what I came on to post which was
I actually dont feel like baking - what is wrong with me I usually LOVE baking ????

Just to let you all know I am home safe.
Thank goodness I had hike boots, socks, extra coat in car...
Made it to colleagues house having spectaculalry failed to get out of the village I teach in. Am 'parked' about a mile from her house. She has my car key. (And boy oh boy was the attempt ) Had cup of coffee and was having a nice play on her laptop when MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR ARRIVED. A pupil's father called into school to check all was ok and was offered help and was despatched to help me so he brought me home in his ancient and trusty landrover. My car is abandoned over there though and the roads are bad here now. When I went to school all was clear and fine and it started coming down heavily... School was closed before it even opened but I still didn't make it home at my first attempt.
First time I have ever had to abandon a car though.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0
