Tuesday ~ Master bedroom and landing!
    Level One

Declutter the floor.. laundry gone, shoes gone.. etc
DONE! Well, part of it anyway. I am going to have a clean, decluttered house by the end of this year!! Looking forward to being able to say 'DONE' to everything on the lists in the not too distant future.

    Right, so now need to:
    pack,
    make sure car starts,
fill in application form for new job,
fill dishwasher before I go (after lunch)

    Morning all

Haven’t managed to catch up with the thread and doubt I will now. I didn’t get on last night, had been on the pc all day at work and decided to just chill in the evening so had a long bath, read my new book and then watched a ‘life’ from the sky+ box with DH. Went to bed pretty early but still didn’t get to sleep til nearly 12 and was awake at 6 – sure my body is just getting back into work mode! Was fed up on way home last night as I missed my train and had a 20 min wait in the cold, had a little cry (how pathetic!), texted DH who was v sweet and came and met me at the station with a bunch of flowers! :D

I did do most of the list last night, just the kitchen floor to mop tonight, so will update list tonight. I also packaged and posted 2 books this morning, which I had meant to do for the last few days.

Couple of questions – does anyone have a steam cleaner? I am wondering whether to get one, think it might be good for cleaning tiles and oven especially…

Secondly, for greenbee – when it’s this cold is it more efficient to leave heating on all day at, say, 14 rather than have it on in the evening on 18?

Morning - got up at half past 6 today    so of course feeling it now :rotfl:

We had the are they arent they this morning. Everything ready for kids to go back to school when H says both schools are closed so kids wind down and stop. I have a little rant !!!!!! as there is about 2mm snow on the ground. Check the county council website and the schools are NOT on the list  DH had managed to load an old cahced page from before Christmas  Double checked with both schools by phone and both open so mad dash on to get kids ready in time. I did the school run and walked doogie in the snow (she's still recovering wrapped up in her basket) and was back home by 9.

Have since decluttered breakfast and S/S'd kitchen. Unfortunately cant head into bedroom as DH has gone to bed. Think I might get stuff out for tea and possibly do some baking as kids need stuff for packing up.

Will bring forward my list and see you all later

Rach, I've got a steam cleaner, £16.99 from Home bargains. Its good for oven and window cleaning. Trouble is it lives in the garage for 99.9% of the time.:o

Visits cancelled as they are in very rural areas and I'm not chancing it in this weather.

Today I'll catch up on paperwork and make various phone calls.

Must, must, must cancel car insurance and get tax disc refunded.

Also check bank accounts and statements and see what direct debits there are, I appear to pay a lot out.

Morning all! No, please not the bedroom. I'm scared of the bedroom - it's where everything that I don't know what to do with goes to die. There is a single track path to the (clean and often washed) bed and the rest is piles of clothes and shoes (everyones) and stuff I mean to sell on ebay and I dread to think what's lurking underneath. I'd better take the mobile phone with me in case I need rescuing. Will collect bin bags, supermarket bags and large cup of hot chocolate and venture forth... I may be some time.

PS No snow here as yet - it's waiting for me to take the girls to the panto this afternoon, then we'll be snowed in at the theatre!

Put it this way, would you leave the kettle simmering all day on the basis it was more efficient to heat it up from simmering when you came in from work than from cold? So no... although it's quicker! What I would say is that this is the kind of weather that makes you realise how useful a really good programmer is - one of the ones you can set to different temps at different times of day (some of them even have zones). One you can activate via your phone is even better ... tell it you're on the way home and the heating and hot water are switched on :D

Upstairs is hoovered & dusted... suppose I'd better check whether I've now finished today's list... linen spray used on new duvet/old pillows to freshen them up. Off to fill a bucket and wash the upstairs floors. I'll sort out some of the stuff I've relocated downstairs while I wait for the floors to dry. Windows are open to air the house... brrr...

cosmomo - good luck! lots of people here do regular ebay challenges in their personal extras e.g. one item a day or 5 a day or whatever works for them. I've been here for about 18 months now and my bedroom is an oasis of calm :D and when it does get out of control it doesn't take long to fix. However, the less said about the study and utility room the better :o As lots of the others will tell you, storage is the solution. If you get that right, then everything else gets so much easier. And if you want inspiration on the flinging, try the declutter thread.
