[QUOTE=greenbee;28680203(firstly_I_need_to_check_whether_it_is_true),_is_that_there_was_a_reluctance_to_open_the_school_knowing_that_only_children_within_walking_distance_were_likely_to_attend,_as_it_would_affect_our_attendance_figures._True. Authorised absence, but still absence.
We have an agenda item for the next governors' meeting to discuss planning for future disruption due to weather.
...[/QUOTE]greenbee staff parking was given as a reason for school closure round here, they were told by governors to open and staff should make other arrangements to either get in or park or bring shovels. Harsh? Suppose it's the same as other staff elsewhere were expected to. There was snow clearance ordered by DS1s school to deal with it but too late really, they are saying caretaker should have ordered it earlier/salted which is bringing it's own arguements about who's paid to do what & when, nightmare. I know they were clearing the local senior schools at 5.30am & they opened so some are coping better than others. Staff were told in many to come in regardless of closure to snow clear so they are arguing it is not their job. Clearly a massive issue with few easy solutions. Canada copes better than us, my aunty is a teacher there, she works 20 miles from home but if she can't get in she walks to the local one & teaches there. Much more sensible approach.Getting shot down by having an opinion.

As for the good faith... my boss is 3000 miles away. Some people find this a bit strange and wonder how I can work for someone I never see, and how he knows I'm not just wasting my time on here... but it's easy enough to know whether people are working hard or not. If they aren't, the work doesn't get done... It's all a question of trust and believing that people want to do a good job.

please can you add me...
I have to admit on the surface my house looks lovely but don't try and open the cupboards...
Having read through lots of the posts have noted that some people do the same as me so i'm nodding at the computer..
Tonight i cleaned all the kitchen washed up after dinner.. Got dd to sleep.. Came down and put a hot milk in the microwave for me and OH.. That was 5 mins.. and in that time i put away washing up cleaned down sides, swept floor and prepared dd's breakfast.. Its like a competition in my head.. I think... ooo what can i do in that time.. then again I know ive got several screws missing..
This week has been terrible to do anything though as my beautiful Mum passed away on New Years day after a long battle with cancer.. Has taken the wind from my sails !! Having a little one i just want to try and get into some kind of routine again.. The last few months have been very hit and miss ..

That me...
To be honest, if I have time to read the thread, I do read others lists ....
To me, its like a little reminder, as what I may have forgotton.
So thank you one and all
I've been a bit busy as my elderly neighbour has'nt had her carer's visit because of the snow, so the poor woman has had me looking after her along with another neighbour.
:T:T:T
I know this kind of thing is in the news and papers at this time of year, especially with this weather.
I am lucky enough to live near my parents so I get to annoy them on a regular basis:rotfl:
That said, their next door neighbours are also elderly. It costs nowt to ask if they need anything at the shops:oThanks for helping me through my first week of flying everyone - you've been inspirational. I actually like seeing peoples personal lists - I'm amazed that some of you seem to manage to list on ebay every day for instance and I have got several ideas from other peoples personal lists. Also have picked up some ideas for supper etc!!:D
PPS What is daily thread? Can I cope with more than one thread? Will I get offended if they ignore me?:p
It is a cracking thread ... ..
I love it
The longer you do it, the easier it becomes
You can find the daily thread in OS.... I wont do a link, because it changes every day.
Off to the new thread. I like catching it at the begining, as I have a good chance of keeping up with the thread then0 -

I think PenPen's suggestion about using the daily chat is a great idea:T:T leaving this thread, as it so busy just now:eek:, for listing:A
I used to post occasionally on the Daily Thread some time ago, but I once disagreed with something that had been posted and suddenly discovered that there was a 'group' and I wasn't part of it - therefore was not welcome anymore.
That was really why I ended up as a flylady in spite of not having a family to keep house for.0 -

I'm off to bed now - have literally just finished all of the spring term planning off - 12 weeks of cross-curricular topic work, 6 weeks of Science, the 12 week overview of every single subject we teach with all of the learning objectives, next week's literacy plans and maths plans. The school had better be open tomorrow (or should that be today now) after that lot!
Night night all,

Maybe if there is an influx of flyladies the problem will go away...
That's what I'm hoping
OK, I've posted on the Old Style Daily, and will endeavour reply to every Flylady who posts on there (though not necessarily immediately) so that you get welcomed :A
Hope to see you all over there
