What does the inventory say about coal?0

Just like the alleged full tank of heating-oil, there was no mention of any coal in the inventory. The "wood" was an old felled tree in the garden which the LL confirmed by email that they could cut and use FOC as the c/h was inoperable.
This LL is obviously completely desperate for funds and appears willing to use any and every device to stitch up his unfortunate tenants. With decent advice from our esteemed fellow-posters on here I sincerely hope this does not come to pass.0 -
Threads like this make me wonder about 'rate your landlord' websites. Surely there must be some out there where you can get and give fair warning about dodgy b******.0

""LL emailed us and told us to help ourselves to this wood" - did you keep the email ?0

Thanks everyone...
thankfully we did keep copies of all correspondance from LL..and we also have receipts for all the additional wood and coal we bought ourselves too..also we have the receipts for our own oil delivery0 -
so you have ooodles of proof of what you bought.. and he will have none... who do you think the Arbiters will listen to ?0

us..hopefully!!:D
LL has produced proof that he had his oil tank filled up before he emigrated..this was however in September 2008 so we are hoping that the arbiters will see that its very likely that during the course of those 8 months before we moved in that the house was being heated by his parents..he of course has denied this but I doubt the arbiters will beleive that a house filled to the brim with LL'S personal effects would go unheated over winter...
LA reckons that the arbiters will advise a 50/50 split of the deposit!!!!:rotfl:0 -
letting agent is telling LL that to keep his hopes high, as LA knows he screwed up by not including oil on the inventory and is now trying damage-limitations....0

OK to recap because I am lost ...
September 2008 2500L oil delivered
Winter 2008/09 Parents heat house regularly
May 2009 You move in
September 2009 500L oil delivered
October 2009 Heating broken for one month
December 2009 500L oil delivered
January 2009 tank is empty.
500L of oil lasts four to six weeks with regular use of the heating, is oil only used for central heating? So the landlord is suggesting you used five times as much oil between May and September as you used between September and December? That's even more idiotic than I thought it was. :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

yep..thats about the size of it!!:rotfl: the CH did also heat water..but during May 1st and Sep 3rd when our first lot of heating oil was delivered, we showered in the downstairs shower room which had an electric shower, we had a dishwasher too..so there was no need to put the CH on.
he seems to be under the impression that we have heated the house right up until Jan using his oil alone0
