Right - I've decided I'm not going to do anything until I've moved, as there'll be a credit check as part of the application process and I can't risk failing that. Haven't told XOH yet. I'm sure he'll ask again soon. After that though - I still have no idea what to do. Hopefully something will come to me between now and then.
I got home from work yesterday and he'd been in and taken the breakfast table. I hate him being here when I'm not. I feel he's invading my privacy. Can't wait to move.
My insurers told me today that my car is being written off. Bit gutted, to be honest, as it's a very reliable economical car. Still waiting to find out how much I'll get.
I have 4 auctions finishing on ebay tonight. 3 have bids, and the other has 4 watchers so I'm really hoping for some last minute bidding wars! I'll report back on how it goes.Total Debt January 2014 £10,725.44

Well, fairly good news on the ebay front - 4 of 6 items have sold. which has got me approximately £9.50 of profit. The big item didn't go, so I've relisted it. While I was packing the other day I found some pieces of material I'd bought for projects I'd never got around to, so they'll be listed at the weekend. I think I have 5 things on there at the moment - 3 with bids, so that's not bad at all

I've chased up the solicitors again about the house. they're STILL dragging their heels, so as soon as it's sold and I'm in my new place I'm gonna write and request my fast-track payment back. It was £60 in July - it's over 3 months later and alll they've done is lose stuff, not post stuff, and they seem to never look at our case unless I call and ask them for an update  I'm not sure if naming & shaming is the done thing on here, but they are Countrywide Conveyancing - if you want to move quickly, don't go to them!
I haven't found out what I'll get for my car yet, but one of my friends says if I reject the first offer, they'll come back with a higher one. Has anybody here tried that? My friend says he tried it after his was written off, and they went from around £600 to around £700. Which isn't bad.
I'm really mad at myself because I forgot to buy any Mirror newspapers while they were doing the hotel coupons. Really gutted, as it was such a good deal. Oh well, can't win 'em all!Total Debt January 2014 £10,725.44

I've got 5 ebay auctions finishing today. 3 have bids on so far. One I'm really impressed with, is a photo frame I got from the book club that comes to work once a month. Only cost me £4, and at the moment it's been bid up to £9.58! I'm gonna go take photos of that material so I can get it all listed today. I've got a ring too, that I bought in Spain. It fit perfectly over there, but back in cold England it's MASSIVE! Might as well see if it sells. If not I'll just add it to my charity shop bag.
I went out for a drink in town last night with a couple of friends. I only spent £20, and that included my share of the taxi there and home! And I felt smug anyway, because the top I had on cost £2.99 from a charity shop, and my jacket was £6 on ebay! Goes to show you really don't have to spend a lot of money to look good or have fun.
I've got enough points on my Odeon card to go to the cinema free, so I might take myself up there tonight. I'm on my own (DD with XOH) so might treat myself

I'm getting £700 to buy another car with. Plus I just sold something on ebay for £100 (and it was picked up tonight) so I can stretch to £800 including tax. I've had a look on ebay at cars but I don't really know what to look for, or how to tell if they're duds.
A friend has offered me an M reg Tigra taxed & MOT'd for 6 months, for £400. I think that's a good deal, but another friend reckons they're not good cars at all. I don't know! The collection company has left a message for me to get in touch to arrange the collection of my car, but I'm not going to call back yet. I'm not entitled to a courtesy car, and I'd really struggle to get to work without a car. Plus, I've not got the insurance money yet anyway.

Been a while again, but thought I'd better pop in for an update. I've got a new car - a Skoda Felicia. It was only £400 and has a years' MOT, so I'm pretty pleased with that.
Had some news in the house - after weeks of solicitors being lame, it looks like we night exchange next week. I really hope so, it's been dragging on for ages, and me and DD just want to get out and start again in our own place.
I might have met someone. Very early days yet, but he seems really nice. He's got a daughter who lives with him. So....fingers crossed.
My DD wants to do 'something' so might finish this later.Total Debt January 2014 £10,725.44

Hi there Minniepoos
Thought I'd let you know I've still been reading your diary even though I haven't been posting. I think you've doing fantastically well considering what you've gone through. I'm glad you've met someone and hope it works out for you. Just take your time, you've been through the mill, don't rush into anything until you're sure. He sounds ideal though! Here's to your new start :beer:I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪0 -
Well, here I am after another month. And it's all pretty much the same. Still not moved - in fact my XOH and I are changing conveyancers tomorrow as our have been pathetic. It means I have lost out on a wonderful house - the landlady held it for me for 2 weeks, but it went back on the market on friday. Probably gone already, as it really is perfect. And it was very close to 2 really good friends. But, we're still no closer to exchanging, so bye bye lovely house.
Money has run out. XOH has dropped the amount of maintenance he's paying me and to be honest I don't think I can afford to get DD the present I wanted to for christmas. Probably not going to be able to afford a tree either. Trying desperately to juggle everything around, but it's looking pretty damn bleak right now. Gonna get some more stuff on ebay later today, but i'm not expecting any miracles.
On the positive side though, I changed up my clubcard vouchers and have managed to book a week in Majorca for me and DD for the summer. So grateful I have something to look forward to, as at the moment it all seems to be slipping away from me.
The 'someone' I wrote about last time is no more. He had some ex issues, and in the end they got back together. I'm a bit sad about it, because he was a really nice man, but at least he's happy.
It's all getting to me a bit too much at the moment. I have some great friends and love DD to bits, but I still feel such an emptiness inside. I had been clinging to the hope that I'd feel better when I move into my own place, but I think it's going to be ages before that happens, and being here is getting me down so much.
But, I'll carry on doing what I do, because I have to. I'll try to scrape together enough money for a half decent pressie for DD. I'll keep my brave face on.

Me again. Just thought I'd have a quick update. I found out why XOH decided to stop contributing to the mortgage etc.....it was so he could afford an engagement ring for the bimbo. I don't care that he wants to get married etc, but am very let down that he's put her happiness in front of his daughter's. I'm struggling to get by and DD knows we're having a hard time. I've had to explain that I can't afford pressies for her friends and teachers. And I'm really starting to resent XOH for putting us through this.
On the plus side I've made about £38 on ebay in the last week or so, so I've been able to get DD a few more little bits. My Tesco has a pre-owned console game section, so I picked up a bargain for the wii there - another pressie for DD. I've also got her a 2nd hand cd that I know she wanted.
I've had to tell some people that I'll give them their presents in January, which I don't like doing, but there's no way I can stretch to getting any more. I can't even afford a birthday present for my brother, which upsets me a lot. But it could be worse. We still have our health, and we're rich in friends.
I panicked at the weekend and bought a few presents from BHS on my dorothy perkins card. It's got me out of a hole and I'll pay it straight back with my dec wages. Glad I kept the card now though - it helped with some essential gifts.
The new solicitor thinks we will exchange before christmas and move just after. So I have to spend the weekend moving boxes around so I can fit the tree in the living room!
And my parents were worried that I wouldn't be able to afford the essentials, like chocolates and wine (!) so sent me a card with £40 in! I hate taking all the time, but it meant so much that they'd thought of me.Total Debt January 2014 £10,725.44

Hi Minniepoos
Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. Just keep thinking to yourself this time next year things will be better and have the best Christmas you can for this year. At least you have your lovely daughter and parents to see you through. Your XOH sounds like a real ** for putting you through all this. Will keep reading your diary. Keep strong - things will pick up. All the best.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪0 -
Well, christmas has come and gone, and i think we came through pretty much unscathed. I found an old tree in the loft so we out that up. It had a foot missing, so i balanced a catalogue on the opposite leg and covered it with tinsel!
All the little bits I'd ordered through ebay and cdwow with my paypal money managed to arrive before xmas which was both a surprise and a relief.
The new solicitor is very positive about us exchanging very soon after the new year, so I've taken the plunge and started the ball rolling on a property in a neighbouring village. God I hope it all comes together this time. I've given them £100 to start sorting things out, so if it messes up I'll lose it.
We've been managing without a DVD player for the last 4 months. I had posts on four different groups on Freecycle but no joy, so today I gave in and got a £20 one from tesco. DD is so glad she doesn't have to be banished upstairs to watch her xmas dvds anymore!
My brother came up to spend xmas with us, which has been kinda nice. Although I am very aware that having another mouth to feed will drain my finances a little more. But, it has been nice to have some company.Total Debt January 2014 £10,725.44
