@broxiebear1, is there really much difference between budget and premium tyres? They all fit on the wheels, they all have tread, they are all made of rubber.

for a focus i would guess the tyre size is 205 (not 208) 55 16

Yeah the 208 was a typo, it definitely says 205 on on the tyre!

On mine Focus 2000 model it says on both front tyres 185/65 r14 86h

Black circles does have that model

My one is a 07 Ghia (I always add the Ghia part in as it makes it sound better! :D)

    Tyres are definitely 205/55 R16.

I used to work in the michelin tyre factory in Dundee. Tyres that just failed to meet required standard on test, (NST slightly out, etc) were rebranded and sold as budget brand.

I've always bought budget tyres; i think the difference in quality is not worth the extra money.

Just checked kwikfit and although prices look competitive it doesn't include balancing, tracking and tyre disposal which can add £20 on top for my car

Standard Valve And Balance £18.00 (2 tyres)
    Tyre Disposal £3 (2 tyres)

Add Wheel Alignment to your order for just £24.50.
Have your tyres filled with Nitrogen for only £1.00 each.
Add metal valve covers to your tyres for only £1.00 each.
Add Mobile Fitting for just £20.00.

I know this is going to sound really dumb but is the highlighted stuff important?? I just thought that they put on the new tyres, done the balancing then you drove away with a few quid less in your pocket!

    Not always... on both counts.

hi, i had my front two tyres replaced - used valuetyres.co.uk - good price (for my tyres atleast) and then choose a fitting centre near you. If you do use them remember to search for a discount code (10% available on the internet)

the only ones that were cheaper were RSR tyres - but wasn't sure if they included balancing, valves etc.

In a word, NO. All you need are the first two.

Buying tyres is complicated when you don't know what you're doing!
