It's a work van that is used pretty much every work day and pulls around quite a bit of weight most of the time so a bit of wear on steering etc is to be expected. It's done 81,000+ miles and is 7 years old so it's got to the point where it's going to cost a bit to fix from time to time. I'm just grateful that nothing bigger was found wrong with it.
I'm glad you aren't too put out with that price. OH had to rely on his van for work when S/E, so i know how important it is that it's reliable.
I loved your story yesterday about your friend's roof. You have many an interesting tale, Paul. I get the impression you've had an interesting if sometimes difficult life. Past experiences certainly do help mould us as we get old. I don't believe in regrets as i long as i don't waste experiences and learn from them. Perhaps you should write a book????One step at a time0 -

I do have a book in me Hopeful. But do people really want to read about drunken, drugged up debauchery, a childhood spent in a cranky cult in a family with psychological/psychiatric issues, people dying way before they should have, disease, insanity, and a long road of recovery? There's a lot of black comedy in there too
If it was a TV series, they would dismiss it as fiction.
It's a funny thing but when much of ones life has been spent on the fringes, it's easy to see much of the stuff that goes on as one big stage play.0 -

I don't suppose I ever mentioned the time when a load of us were tripping and/or speeding around someone's house. Across the road, someone had a carpet delivered. I'm not sure how it started but it got into a few heads that there was a corpse inside the carpet roll. So there we were, all out of our heads, place full of illicit drugs, and one of the guys wanted to phone the police because he thought there had been a murder across the road LOL. Let's just say that he was talked out of it0 -

I've read quite a few books like this. It can be hard going at times, when there are untimely deaths, or abuse etc, but ultimately, I find them inspiring.
Your life/journey is an inspiration!
Certainly puts things into perspective. After all, if someone can overcome all of that, why the hell should I worry about not paying a bill on time, or get into a silly argument with a loved one over a trivial matter etc.
I think you should get typing/writing. You might even find it therapeutic?February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I have written bits and pieces down over the years. Not in any particular order but as things have come up that needed resolving. In fact, for some issues, the best resolution is to accept that there isn't one. Sometimes it's not the problem that needs solving but ones attitude towards the problem.

i would say YES! it sounds really interesting, you have a good way with words and it doesn't seem like your standard i-had-a-terrible-childhood-but-survived autobiography. get typin' - one good book deal would clear that debt!Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !
:Anow... to start some serious saving :A

I'd love to write a book just about the last four years of my life but (as paulgonnabedebtfree says) it would probably be dismissed as fantasy! I do not have a nice family apparently and writing everything down would be theraputic! May also help OH understand me a little and why I hate them so much (immediate family excepted)
Further PaD of £1.40 this afternoon.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
