Well if you want to feel better my kids are 26, 22, 17 and 15 and they're all on facebook, so tell me how do you think I feel?????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My nephews (19,18, and 14) are all my friends on FB, together with my brother's girlfriends cat. My son (22) won't add me as it would ruin his street cred.
    Yesterday's total was a brilliant £3,848.46 :T:T:T:T

Wow. How focussed is everyone after the New year.

Hey, I've just heard (from my Mum), that Manchester has been declared a state of emergency due to the snow and the police are now only responding to life threatening calls.

Anyone in the area? Is it true? I've tried searching online but can't find anything about it. Plenty about the snow etc, just not this part in particular.

Not sure about the state of emergency, but all the local radio stations were saying that it was impossible to get from Merseyside to Manchester. Whole bits of M6, M62 were closed, together with East Lancs and the bit of M60 from Barton Bridge to Trafford Centre. Emergency Services were having difficulty getting through, there was so much traffic just stuck.

My son was on nights last night and couldn't get home because no trains. I went to pick him up, which took just a bit longer than normal as so early and not too bad, but then it took us over an hour and a half to go four miles! And thats city centre Liverpool, not in the middle of nowhere!

No PaD today because already rounded bank account, and not spent any money today. Been busy updating CV and applying for jobs, suspect that my mailbox may now be filled with rubbish from recruitment agencies.

Wow! You've got loads of snow then!

Been fairly quiet on the snow front here today. A little this morning and then nothing. But there is snow in other parts of the country (on and off).

I don't think we've necessarily got lots of snow, just not very good at dealing with it! No roads gritted, trains don't work, buses get stuck on hills. Friend in Germany would be laughing her socks off, and daren't even speak to cousin in north Canada.

Euro this is a really daft question but how many airports are there in the Netherlands? I know someone who works offshore out there and was meant to be flying back today. He phoned and said that his flight this morning was cancelled but has been provisionally booked on a flight for 8.30 tonight to get back to Aberdeen Airport so I was wondering what the chances of him making it back are?? If his flight leaves then he will probably be stranded again at Aberdeen airport as there's no way he's going to get home in all this snow!

Why is Manchester in a state of emergency?? Good grief I think some of you on the other side of the border can be quite soft at times...we've not had a snowplough round here in weeks now and we're still surviving! I do, however, think Gilli hit the nail on the head...you're not equipped to or used to dealing with snow...us on the other hand...well, we were equipped but our ploughs get sent south so we just have to deal with it! ;) :rotfl:

    Hi Angelic,

There are 5 airports in Holland, but they won't all fly to Aberdeen. The weather isn't too bad here today, but I know a lot of airports in the UK have shut, so that's probably why his flight was cancelled.

Do you know which airport he is at now? 8.30pm UK time or NL time? Has he been provided with food and drink (or a voucher for this)?

That's the problem. Because it doesn't happen as often, they are unprepared.

They know what to do to avoid such problems in future, but it doesn't happen often enough to justify the cost involved in being more prepared etc. Same as here. Annoying!

  • I've just paid off £8.93 to HSBC CC... rounded down my bank balance to an even number.. this is the way to go.

Do you think that they mind receiving dribs and drabs as long as I make the minimum payment as well??
