Well, the jelly is now in a pot - only made enough to half fill it. :o I did adapt the recipe as didn't have enough fruit but thought I would get more than half a pot! Oh well, better to start small since I'm experimenting I suppose. On the upside it looks ok and as though it will set.

Thanks mac, will definitely have a read of the thread.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the tantrum my OH had in HMV today - we were looking at the DSi and OH wanted to get it since he has £50 from Christmas and £30 in HMV vouchers. But the DSi is £150 and I said, well why don't you just wait until you have the rest of the money (bearing in mind he already has the DS). He went off on one, "Why do you always act like my mum?" etc and stormed out of the very crowded shop. :o

He was in a huff for about half an hour before finally admitting he acted like a tw*t. :rotfl:

Well, had a mini-fit of cleaning this morning when I got up and cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen (minus the oven - need to do that later). Have now reverted to being a lazy bum. Put on a washing as well - second load of towels in 2 days since my OH didn't think to do any washing while I was ill. I only discovered this when I went to go in my bath and there were only hand towels left. OH of course had thoughtfully used the last bath towel for himself half an hour earlier, leaving me, the recovering invalid, with hand towels to dry myself. Men.

Did my scratchcards this morning and since I got 50p on Virgin, I bought a 20p scratchcard and won £5. Never usually win anything on the paid for ones!

Thinking about visiting my sister and her kids this afternoon as we bought a bookcase for my nephew's Christmas that we promised to put up .... it's still in the box... :o.

It's quite a sunny day here today but still cold and icy - really difficult to walk without sliding.

Also need to remind OH to put on his home brew lager today as he has helpfully left his brewing bin sterilising in the bath.:rolleyes2

Well my sister was out, so the bookcase is a task for another day.

I did tidy the house up a bit more and organised some of the recipes I've collected from magazines and the OS board that are written on random bits of paper. They are either in a notepad or stuck in a scrapbook - one for sweet and one for savoury recipes. OH complained that he felt like a "special" child as his task was to stick the recipes in the scrapbooks with glue. :rotfl:

He also put his beer on to start and made lasagne for dinner. He's a good sort when he feels like it. He's now listing on Ebay and is making me look quite lazy today actually. :o

I managed to catch up on returning rates on reviews on Ciao (mostly) and Dooyoo. Really need to start reading and rating more to get the return reads on my own reviews. Also need to write some more reviews but haven't felt like it recently and also need to read a book that I feel is worth reviewing. I only write book reviews as that's the one thing I know lots about. :D

Just thought I would say hello, have really enjoyed reading your diary so far. Very impressed with how much you have paid off so far - even if I did have to google what padding meant!!
We to were a bit niave with the whole friendly finanacial advisor at the estate agents. Think we are still paying the charges off the CC for the honour of him sorting it out.
Have you sampled the jelly yet? I tried in the summer has strawberry that was like puree and raspberry that you had to cut . Perhaps next year!!

Hi sazzle :hello: Glad my rambles have been enjoyable.

Sorry to hear you fell for the financial "advisor" too. We are stuck with paying back a loan for another 5 or 6 years due to listening to ours. Northern Rock took us to court as we couldn't afford to pay what they wanted every month. The judge let us pay what we could (still slightly more than we wanted to) £150 p/m but 0% interest. Hmm, not so smart of NR after all really.

Hmm, well the jelly.... it's set but it seems quite hard, I think I overboiled it? There are some small bits that are like hard boiled sweets, kind of chewy. Most of it is spreadable though. I think I will try again with the proper amount of fruit, the fruit I used was frozen too (defrosted overnight before using) so not sure if that affected it.

There are lots of threads about making jam so should really have a read through them and find out where I went wrong. :o

Jam and jelly are apparently quite difficult, particularly the popular ones with strawberries and ras[berries in. I think it was the boiling where I went wrong, too much for the rasp and too little for the straw. Still at least yours is still spreadable:j

Well, today is my last day off before going back to work, not looking forward to it.

Been quite down with my job lately, have only worked there for 6 months and it is a 12 month fixed term contract. They have recently given notice to other fixed term people that they are not renewing their contracts in March. My contract will be up for renewal in July but it's not looking likely. I have an interview for an admin bank later in the month but am unsure whether to go to it. Not sure if I should just hang on where I am until I know whether contract will be renewed or go for the admin bank work if I get it.

The problem with the admin bank is that obviously it's not guaranteed work, will be less money and more travel, short term appts etc. I could get a permanent position from it eventually though and it will give me more admin experience. I know I need to start applying for permanent jobs just now anyway but not sure whether going to the admin bank is worth it in the short term. OH says go for the interview anyway and see what happens, I don't know, am rubbish at job hunting, interviewing etc.

Got the £100 christmas money into my savings account today, so that is going towards new laminate flooring. Hopefully should have enough saved to get in done in the next few months. My cousin should be coming to lay my bathroom tiles (finally) within the next two weeks. :j

The Christmas tree is looking at me, I really should start taking it down but that will mean dragging OH away from World of Warcraft to help. This will not be easy, plus I'm partial to a bit of warcraft myself and want to play instead of doing housework!

Work sounds a tricky one! Any chance you can approach your supervisor and explain that you are in a "tricky" position. That you really enjoy the work but with it only being temporary you'll have to start looking for other jobs? If they are going to keep you on then they may tell you then??
I'm definitley on the side of going for interviews, if anything it's experience of interviews, you can always turn it down.

Can I just say, every time I see the title of your thread I want waffles. With ice cream. And as I have no way of getting waffles, I am disappointed every time. Just so you know. :D

    Enjoying the waffling though.

    :rotfl:@ SkintGypsy. Mmm, waffles.

Thanks for the advice Sazzle, my work took on a lot of people at once on fixed term contracts and the decision about renewing is centralised so they probably don't actually know if we will be kept on or not. Should find out about April time though as they normally give 3 months notice. Need to sort out time off for the interview for the admin bank, already have annual leave booked for the day after so not sure if I should just ask for another day of annual leave.

Hmm, will think on it some more, just haaate interviews! Also need some Mum advice, she is always good at making me do things I know I should do but don't really want to. Also, would the bank work be worth it? She is more subtle than my OH who just says "Do it!" which makes my stubborness kick in and it goes in circles from there...
