Can you not put a lath down (or something similar), to keep the water on one side of your path (and stop it spreading all over the path) until you get the water ingress/egress fixed?Burlesque_Babe wrote: »Please ignore the John Smiths can and the fag packet frozen to the floor (both items my OH has had - not me!!!) - they escaped as the recycling bin was being moved the other day and as they haven't been collected still, I look like a right chavvy litter lout :rotfl:

A lath??(goes off to Google) A thin piece of wood?
Aah, I think I see what you mean, keep the water channelled with one on each side? Good idea.......there are some long pieces of wood on the far side of the drive propped against the wall. They would have been good a few days ago - yes, because the ice patch has grown up the drive, last weekend it was water outside the door. They are really long....I might have a look to see if I can shift a couple.

BB for goodness sake get yourself to the doctors and get this gallstone thing sorted out. You can't go on like this can you.
That ice looks scary, be careful going out there, better still get OH to go out there and sort it, you are poorly after all.:A

BB I know exactly the pain you are having...I too have small gallstones and when they flare up my god its worse than child birth I tell you. Again its always after Ive eaten low fat then have something high in fat or have eaten way too much high fat (chocolate, chips etc) in excess. I would def go to Dr's as they will refer you and probably take it out.I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Sat under a throw from 2.30 on the sofa (it was cold by then!!) trying to sleep upright but in huge pain. I have these colic/gallstone attacks every now and again and it's because I either eat a fatty meal after weeks of eating low fat, or, a build up of eating fatty foods - well, I've hardly been munching lettuce over Christmas !
Get thee to doctors. I have a gallstone (it showed up on a drive-by ultrasound) and is completely symptomless. The second it plays up, it's out of there..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

right.........this is my creation
where it looks wet is where ice used to be. I've knocked the edges back to try to get the channel as narrow as I can, the ground is a bit bumpy so I've tried to take that into account because the wood is a bit warped because it's been outside (it was really stuck together with ice!)
From the source - tried to channel it in so it's narrowest near the door to have the best access when it re-freezes later - it's already re-filled with water. Then down to the rest of the ice.
I then found an old toilet mat and I've put it fibre side down at the narrowest point to try to create a kind of dam. I have no idea if this will help or if I've even done it in the best way."Stay Wonky":D
