erm.........stop the strengh of the water flow by soaking it up a bit? Did I get a bit ahead of my self engineering wise :rotfl: oh and also it is where the wood joins, I thought it would help with any water escaping at the join.

Will it not just cause it to back up and overflow and then spread over your path?
You don't need to be fancy, just divert it into the nearest drain (or the steet) while keeping it off where you want to walk."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I did wonder that, but the flow isn't fast enough I didn't think to get to the point where it overflows before it starts to re-freeze. I also thought the mat would help have a tiny bit of access onto the dry side of the drive - this morning it was well over a foot to stride across - not good when you have a leg that can't feel where it is being put or is carp at being the balancing leg! It's going to keep flowing into the rest of the existing ice - god, where I stopped breaking it is really thick!

That ice looks scary, be careful going out there, better still get OH to go out there and sort it, you are poorly after all.
can't see him doing that at 9pm at night or whenever he arrives  He's offered no help at all since it started to ice. He will have plenty to say later though :rotfl:"Stay Wonky":D

BB if the mat fills with water to saturation and then freezes solid it might then cause the water to overflow...I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

hmm.....ok, I'll move it. Maybe if I put it between the door step and the wood to stop that area getting any colder and the moisture in the ground freezing?

well, I'm not sure......they would have been going on to the road, but I would think they would need to get between the houses to see the water running through and there's no access other than going up through someone's garden as it's just a 'gap' between a handful of the houses.....the fact a truck with signs and a generator turned up is good though if they were looking at it.

He'll tell you that his creation would have spelt "R-O-V-E-R" and that you could see it from space.
Of course you can tell him your creation spells "I-D-I-O-T" and that you can see it from the windows upstairs..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
