  • well this is true and I've come a long way but I do seem to be a bit stuck in the same place I've been for the last year or so these days and more seems to scare me now than it has before. It's a weird thing to try to describe but bizarrely even thinking about when I get my cheque for the car means I'll have to go to town to deposit it. I'll plan when I go (Saturday) at what time (before 9.30 to get parked), where I'll go (Abbey and possibly Sainsbury's as it joins the car park) and how long I want to be (I'll put 2 hours on because I'm so cautious but know I'll be less than 1 hour)

It's mad really isn't it that I've already planned trip to the bank that won't take place for about a month because it's outside what I normally do on a Saturday and that I am already feeling uptight about it :o

So start doing things not in your routine. What you got planned for this Saturday?

    Do something different on Saturday.

Good luck with the job and the orchestra thing sounds fab - go for it! Shame I sold my old spare flute or you could have had that :( Never could bring myself to part with the one I used for college etc, hardly ever play it but keep saying I might one day....

    sneaky at work post.

New car is now insured. It cost me £31, which surprised me as I hoped it would go down being an identical car but a smaller engine. Turns out it's a £6 increase (well, ok with fluctuations etc) - and a £25 mid-policy change fee!!!! What a flippin' cheek for the pressing of a couple of buttons!

I shall be adding that charge to my claim.

Picking it up tomorrow as OH is working in Southampton today but is working from home tomorrow and I need dropping up to the garage to drive it back.

Good idea, I didn't think of adding that. Will do now :D

been to pick up the car. The uncertainty of driving yet another different car/have I bought the right car/hope it drives ok as it feels a bit different to the old Honda (the steering feels loser and the brakes don't feel as sharp I don't think) is mildly doing my head in a bit this evening because of all the lack of routine/lack of comfort blanket feelings it provokes in me :o

I'm going to name it Thunder :D as the original paperwork is there from when it was new and the official name for the colour of it is Thunder Grey :T

Going to send all the paperwork recorded on Saturday morning. Had a letter from the claim people with an appointment at the beginning of March to see a chiropractor to do the report. Let's hope I don't get the same report as my car - total loss :rotfl:

In other news, I got £3 worth of vouchers from Discovery (they do tortilla wrap kits and salsas) There was a £2 beer voucher in the box I bought which I was going to use to get OH some cheap beer but the voucher expired in October even though the kit had a March date. I emailed them to tell them - bit cheeky I know - but they sent me £3 of vouchers which will buy another kit - OH can go without the beer :D

To give him credit, when we viewed the car I've just bought he said one of the rear tyres was looking a bit bald and I asked for it to be changed. I've just checked the online MOT database now I have the paperwork and the rear tyre was on the advisory so for once he scores a brownie point.

Past MOT's - most were straight passes, 1 needed 2 wiper blades a couple of years ago, 1 was mid section of the exhaust 3 years ago, 1 was 2 tyres a couple of years ago. This last one last month was damage to a front wheel and tyre bulging.......I can only hope that wasn't some kind of accident, but it passed a couple of days later with just the tyre on the advisory.

So, I'm now £1400 in debt.........let's see how long it takes to clear with the insurance claim and then working extra to pay the rest off.

cheers beanie :D He (has to be a he with a name like Thunder!!) is on the drive. I'm going to carry on driving the hire car until they want it back - I might as well rather than put miles on the new car unnecessarily.

Also in other news - payday. Got £1243 which included 6 hours teaching. That will be just about ok for the month ahead. End of February salary should be almost the same as I've done 6 hours teaching this month also.

With OH being away for a week, I can be really frugal with meals. I don't mind using up the hordes of different lentils I have or having tuna jackets for dinner. I've got his shopping contribution coming in Saturday and it would be great if didn't really use much of the food whilst he's away.

Although I'm bound to want to have a takeaway one night just to be able to slob out whilst he's away !!
