Logically, you should reinvest for 12 months.
Personally, i would lob it at the mortgage though as i would benefit more from the extra motivation and the feel good factor.
Up to you. How much is your current rate? What rate could you get on a 1 year fix? I don't think the rates are that brill compared to longer fixes. Are you prepared to gamble that the base rate is not going to increase soon? I always go on the thought that it could happen at their next meeting, so be ready for it as it will get tough. Every extra month i get i try to overpay as much as i can.
How's your nephew today?0 -
Hi TPA
I agree with Michelle. I'd just have to pay it off the mortgage but then again I'm impatient. I know it's not the right thing to do but it would be for me. Do what feel right for you:)
Glad your feeling better today:)I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Thanks both, my gut feeling was to pay it directly off the mortgage, even though it may not be exactly the right thing to do IYSWIM?
My nephew is home and doing well thank you xx

Fantastic TPA, well done :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi TPA!
Speaking as someone who finds it almost impossible to favour long term gain over short term I would probably pay the 25K off the mortgage!....However , if you could work out what it would be worth in say a year and have in your mind it wil be "X amount" to pay off in 12 months, this could also work as a good incentive ... thirdly I also like gallygirls idea of 25K worth of shoes or candles!
glad your nephew is home and okay , and well done on the wt loss too!

Hey I'd do the same too. Pay the 25k off the mortgage now while the interest rate is so low, would that not be more prudent than waiting 12 months when the 25k may not go as far? Sorry if that doesnt make sense as my brain is addled!! Glad nephew better and well done on the weight loss!!MFW 2011 No. 161 £946.54/£2000 TargetApril 9/15

Ops, long time no see!
I have been so busy my feet haven't touched the ground!!
We (I:rotfl:) have decided to pay of the £25,000 as soon as it matures, it was always ear marked for the mortgage anyway and had been accounted for as such.....not candles or shoes GG!:p
I have finally got around to using my 'new' laptop, so now have fully functioning keys!! No more munching whilst surfing the net or the 'new' laptop will be in the same state as the old one:o
My 'second' (or should that be third or forth) job has started up again, albeit with a slight change in hours that actually suit me better.:j
The Ryder cup is coming to us next week so am preparing for total grid lock, I will not be going anywhere unless I absolutely HAVE to!:(
My naughty doggy caught a rabbit today:eek:
My lovely puddy cat is due her vaccinations, so that is tonights wages accounted for..easy come easy go lol.
I am cutting back a little on the mystery shopping as there are just not enough hours in the day! I will still pick up local ones but will not be going out of my way to stress myself further:o.
My Mum has been a bit 'wobbily' lately so I need to keep a closer eye on her too. She is far more important than extra ££.
Hubbies birthday is later in the week so lots of meals out are coming my way:o One with him n me, one with him me and the inlaws and one with him me and my family..talk about milking the situation!!:D
Thinking ahead, once the mortgage is paid off I would like to ear mark hubbies bonus as holiday funds, ATM we don't go away every year, so if the worst happened and he did not get a bonus it would not be the end of the world, however if he got a BIG bonus we could have a fabulous holiday that year:D We would wait until the bonus was paid and then decide where we were going dependent on the amount £££:money:
