Like the dress Birdie, would you pick that colour? If so, it would go lovely with the Dom Rep stone you were on about, Larimar! I don't suit white so something like that would do me (if OH ever pops the Q)!

I think I would go for that colour, I love the bluey greeness of it andit is very fitting to the location! Well done on remembering the Larimar too! :)

Dinah, I don't really suit white and since we're not having a 'traditional' wedding I reckon I can wear whatever I want. I'm not going for the 'big' dress so you could argue about that too- I could wear a simple grecian-style dress any time...I haven't decided on any dress yet, there are white dresses I like and coloured dresses I like. Whichever dress I choose will be the one I feel best in and if that's hot pink then so be it! :p

After you mentioned it, I remembered I had a Larimar ring (was in Dom Rep in 1999) which I have hardly worn, terrible eh. It's lovely as well. When you are there, look out for a 'double ring', my sister got one and it is Larimar on one side and Amber on the other, with two gold 'rings' which swivelled so it looked like two different rings, it was very unusual.

A Caribbean wedding calls for colour. :D

Awww, isn't NIM a love! OH doesn't believe in flowers 'because they just die on you'! :wall:

Lara, I'm playing with the idea of this dress and having my bridesmaids in white and I've just found out that the dress shop around the corner from me stocks the designer so I'm going to go and see if they have it in to try it on! OH and I always joke that everything we need is in Ripon, I'd laugh if my wedding dress was just around the corner from me when I've been planning on going all over the place to get hold of it!

That is a fabulous dress. I think it is important to go for what you feel most comfortable. What is your colouring? If you do want white you could wear a grecian style one to the ceremony and then change for afterwards, or alternatively just wear the one above :)

    Hi all,

    Happy Birthday Dinah!

I am picking up the Focus Saturday. Don't think my Oh would have gone for a pink one either haha. I did about 70 hours of lessons so it looks like I am the one who took ages. I hated my instructor though and I was really nervous, am fine now though. Thankfully my Mum paid for all my lessons.

My colouring is mega pale with dark hair. I don't even tan properly, just go a bit yellow! Pale colours make me look a bit jaundiced which is why I feel a little wary about white!

Swinstie, I saw those double rings when we were there, they were clever! I spent all of my (well, our!) money on a larimar flip flop on a chain! Might have to look at rings when we go back!

Exciting about the Focus Wendz! Most important thing- what colour is it?!

It is silver, looks nice but think may need more cleaning that the last car!

Tete, the shoulder we sewed in class, what is that called? I don't like putting a random sample in my book with no title!

It's called ease-stitching - but it's not just for shoulders, its for joining any two pieces of fabric where one's longer than the other. I've seen it in a few descriptions on how to do different things. That's what I put in my folder though and she marked it fine.

I agree that I would want something a bit more 'different' for my wedding Birdie, but of course it's whatever you feel confortable in and it would certainly suit the environment.

Thank you Wendz, glad to hear I'm not the only one who passed first time after half a lesson in a dodgem at night :D

My dad wins on crazy driving test stories, he had his first test on the day he turned 17, having never driven, his only practice was driving in a layby on the day for 20mins. Second test was the week after, when he had still had no lessons or anything, but had spent an hour sat in his dads car on the drive learning to use the gears, staggeringly he passed that one! He went on to join the IAM as well!

Birdie - one of my biggest regrets about my wedding (apart from marrying a deserting !!!!!!, lol) is that I didn't go for the dress I really wanted and let a friend persuade me to borrow a cream wedding dress that was a bit too big, even with baby bump under it.

I wanted a gorgeous soft pink 20s or 30s style (can't remember now) dress I saw on eb*y and wish I'd bought it as in the end I had to pay a fortune for the borrowed dress to be dry cleaned before and after wearing it and it would probably have been cheaper to have the pink dress!
