Tete, I bet Nigella doesn't wash up as she goes at all; she probably just throws things away and gets new ones! (But she does look fabulous for 50...)

Yeah, stupid rich people! I can't believe she's 50 either! Was going to say hope I look that good at 50 but I don't look that good at 28 so I have no hope! :D

So you have a job for the moment? That's a good thing at least with the state of things at the moment :(

Can't help on York/Harrogate I'm afraid, I always stay at my friend's house! Birdie that hotel looks gorgeous!

Aw Wendz, do you just look as though you've overindulged a bit? :D Can't wait to see pics of your bump in the next few months :)

Is your brother getting married at Ripley Castle Poddle?

Yep, and it's so soon! We're staying very near there on Saturday night after the wedding, but were planning on a couple of days away beforehand. We had to cancel our weekend in Paris last month as OH's granddad died :( Luckily the hotel was refundable, but we lost £150 on Eurostar, so we feel we still 'deserve' a mini break and neither of us have been to York. Although might hold out for wintry break somewhere cold and Christmassy (is it too early to say that?!) later in the year.

I always drive past this Boutique B&B on my in and out of town and want to stay there, but can't really justify it considering that I only live 25 minutes away!

That looks LOVELY - I have a feeling it's one of the places recommended on wedding invitation so it may be booked up. Will look into it!

I can't believe Nigella's 50! I had to Google it to make sure... I thought she was only about 40, that's insane! Clearly cooking yummy things is good for the skin!

Well apart from the good genes, excellent bone structure and prvileged lifestyle, I reckon it probably does have a lot to do with the fact that she's not thin (and wrinkly)

It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas IMO Poddle, we've decided that we're throwing a Christmas party and I was looking at party planning blogs last night for ideas and my head is now reeling with candy canes and fake snow! I hate this time of year, I just wish it'd hurry up and be winter for real so I can get out my winter clothes and know that I won't overheat when I go out all wrapped up!

I don't really know about hotels in York, I always pass a couple of nice looking ones on my way in and out but I can't remember the names of them for the life of me! If you do stay in York make sure you go the to The Castle Museum and have afternoon tea at Betty's! Also, I'm not sure when it starts but they turn the car park behind Fenwick (department store near Jorvick) into a skating rink around Christmas, I've never been but always wanted to! Probably a good idea for me to stay away; last time I skated I fell over and cried like the big girls blouse that I am!

I also agree that Nigella's curves are key to her good skin, everyone I know with a bit of extra flesh on them (excepting smokers!) age much better than skinny minnies! My Mum is very 'cuddly' and has only started to get a few deeper wrinkles this year and she's 55, her skinny sister looked a total wreck by 45! Bless my Mum, she's going for a Botox consultation soon (I have to go and hold her hand!) because she wants to look 'fresher' for my wedding and can't afford a full face lift so she's going down the non-surgical route! I don't think she really needs it but it'll make her happy and I want it when I'm older so it'd be interesting to see her go through it all!

I can be sure that I can go out in my winter clothes and not overheat :rotfl: its so cold here!! Lastnight OH jumped up out his chair (whilst we were both wrapped up in a duvet) shouted that it was just rediculous we didnt have the heating on, and put it on :D it was heaven. He's now set the timer on it, said we had held out for too long and we couldnt carry on sitting in the freezing cold. Feel slightly worried about the heating bills, but its so nice and warm now.

LOL Flower, it's so nice having heat on when you're freezing! We've not had to put ours on yet, I'm hoping we don't have to put it on for a good while, it'll be nice to get another pay out from the gas company for overpaying! OH lived in my slanket last week (instead of just putting a jumper on!) and now it's got his boy stink all over...ick! I think I'm going to get him his own one for Christmas then he can get it as smelly as he likes and mine will remain nice!

Ahh can't believe you lot are complaining it's cold. It's 25 degrees outside! :rotfl: Shame I am not sunbathing. I had my second fieldwork appointment today with another repair shop. Some of the topics I thought would be really important are not, and some that I hadn't imagined have come up. Perhaps it's a bit more difficult to study than I first thought - I mean getting some real depth on the repair practices. Need to get my brain into gear.

It's lovely to hear all the chat here - so many weddings and babies and new houses and jobs to be excited about. I am enjoying it here but am a bit homesick this week. Hoping life will become a bit more 'normal' over the next few weeks as I settle in a bit more.

Hope the job hunting goes well Poddle and you get something really great :)

GARGH stupid multi quote lost lots again! Wendz thats amazing news congratulations I'm so excited for you! April seems so soon too! Bet you only notice the bit of padding because your clothes are a little tighter, I think its around the 4 -5 month mark it suddenly shoots out (based on all my colleagues who keep reproducing like rabbits!)

ah wow, Wendz, that's brilliant news - congratulations!!

I've totally forgotten everything else I was going to say now :D
Birdie, I think you should definitely be giddy with excitement! It's bonkers how much all our lives have changed since Dinah's first thread.

I keep thinking that! Really exciting to think where we'll all be in 5 years though.

Ooh, I was going to ask for ideas to stay around Harrogate in November. I was thinking York for a couple of nights before my bro's wedding - a nice B&B or cottage would be nice - so any advice gratefully received :)

I usually stay in The Yorkshire, it's right in the centre, modernised and smart, and usually has some good offers on, but because its in the centre it can be a bit loud.

I keep saying this to mum! NIMs mum is a rake size 6-8 but she is 55ish and looks 65, whereas mine is a 14-16, 50 but looks 40. I think I'd put on a few pounds to keep my face, Nigella has a good balance and she gets to eat all the best stuff!

Owww I want to come to your parties they always sound awesome!

This is my favourite time of year I think, crisp and fresh but mostly dry. I hate wet, and I only like snow if I don't have to go out in it!

So you don't all think I've settled and forgotten my self employed goal continues progressing, but with this being a public forum I don't feel I can say much at the moment.

I feel you on the baby finances Birdie, was watching an episode on the computer last night and the characters are trying to get pregnant, and I felt a real twinge, I think if I didn't feel I had to supress it for the finances NIM would have managed to convince me already!

Lookie here! And here! I can't wait to get my Christmas stuff out now, why is it only October?! We're not doing anything for Halloween or I'd be getting excited about that instead!

I was just wondering about your secret self employed plans the other day, glad it's still on the go!

I have a funny feeling that once we get back from Florida next year we'll end up convincing each other than we should just get on and make a baby, which is scary, and probably not the most sensible thing to do but people worse off that us manage fine so it'll be OK... argh, I shouldn't be convincing myself! :rotfl:
