Depends how much you have left to organise really Birdie!

Had our first dinner for my parents and a mate on Saturday night, made lots of Mojitos in memory of the hen weekend! My mum called up the next morning before NIM gets up and said 'he's really keen to have a family soon isn't he?'. Its a bit scary when even outsiders notice! I think I've managed to turn my broodyness off entirely by focussing on how skint we are! Will update with new debt total by the weekend but suffice it to say its not good going. I think in my head we need NIM to be earning at least £25k before we could afford to loose 75% of my wages for maternity leave.

Anyone have any recipe suggestions for chocolate week? I know some good cookies I'll make as they freeze well, but I still need 5 interesting chocolatey things to make to round off the week :D (For anyone of a dietary mind today I've had a homemade smoothie for breakfast, peppers and dip and a apple and strawberry salad with mint and lime juice for lunch, and dinner is couscous and veggies, so I'm not ENTIRELY high on sugar, just a bit giddy).
    Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81
    Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off
    Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hello Lara in Kampala! Do I have to shout louder so you hear me all that way away?! Good to hear that you're settling in well, although the taxis sound scary!

I can't believe Max is starting to talk CMD! They grow so fast! I'm trying really really hard to beat the broodiness that has hit big time but it's so hard! I was trying to convice OH at the weekend that I need a baby to fit in at the Rugby Club now, it's like a big baby club now, I had to borrow someone's dog so I didn't look like too much of a lonely childless saddo!

Physio sounds nasty Dinah, especially the odd noises! I'm a bit creaky today as we went on a 2 hour walk to and around Studley Deer Park, I was worn out by the time we'd actually got there since we walked from home and OH had marched there! He also thought it'd be a great idea to climb up a really steep hill to see some little old stone building thing with nice views but I didn't really enjoy the view as I was too busy trying not to keel over, I'm so unfit I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest by the time we got to the top! Now my knees and bum ache like mad!

My work is OK, I was off last week and yesterday and they've moved my desk again so I'm nearer general population, not great but not too bad right now, but not everyone is in yet so I'll have to see how hectic it gets when there are 2 more people in the office!

Sorry to hear about the job hunt Poddle, I hate the whole job application process, I've had a fair few bad interviews that went nowhere that I've been put off the whole process! The only one that went well was for a job that would have been a £4k drop in pay!

The date of my hen party has been sorted, it's the 14th-16th January but that's all I know! I got a call from one of my friends on Sunday asking me to meet her at the pub so I went down and all of my 'Hens' were there, including 2 from Leeds, which was a lovely surprise! They'd met up to make plans and discuss details expecting it to take ages but apparently took a whole 19 minutes, I don't know if I should be impressed or worried! LOL! I can't wait now, only 13 and a half weeks till my Hen Party and 17 and a half till we fly off! Argh, so soon! I don't know if I should be giddy with excitement or pale with panic!

I think you should be impressed cos they are obviously all on the same wavelength! I bet you can't wait for the hen and its great to have it after Xmas so you have something to bridge the gap between it and the wedding!

I was lucky that as soon as I got broody we were in the position to start a family. I was never really broody before that! My sister has been broody for years but she warned her husband that as soon as they got married they would be trying. Lucky it was a honeymoon baby then!

Glad work is better for you Dinah :)

    Hi everyone,

Dinah - glad you had a brilliant honeymoon and sounds like the house is coming together well. Hope the physio is helping the knee.

Talking about broodyness I have a bit of news myself....OH and I are having a baby! We just had our 12 week scan this morning and we are due in April.

    Hope everyone is well.

    xx
  • Best and most failsafe chocolate recipe I know is Cinny's Brownies which she put up on Dooyoo way back when! I make them all the time, they're amazing!

Sounds exciting having people over, the mojitos comment reminds me I had some ready made mojito stuff, left it in Dad's fridge, hope he hasn't taken it as a leaving gift!

Yeah I can imagine a baby would really take its toll moneywise, best to at least make sure the house is finished before having one (and it subsequently getting trashed haha!)

Hope your bum feels better soon Birdie. Ages since I went out walking I'd probably be the same now

EDIT! OMG Wendz, congratulations! How exciting!!! Have you got a bump yet?? Has he propsed yet in light of this??? Haha!

Oh wow - that's amazing news!!! How did the scan go? It's amazing to see them on screen isn't it?

    Delighted for you!

The house certainly gets trashed alright Tete. I tidy up every night and by 9am the next morning the place is trashed!!!

How are you? Is the house still really cold?

Colder! The heating helps but it's just immediately freezing once we turn it off. There are places around the window frames where you can actually see daylight through the wall - so much for having a surveyor boyfriend eh?

  • Maybe! It's a shame because it's such a gorgeous house but we're both cold creatures by nature anyway :( Sigh. Maybe we should just move to Australia now!
