I didnt know you could use them on contract phones either, i've thrown loads of those away - need rolly eye smiley here!
I only found out yesterday, we had fast food for dinner and there was a code on my paper cup. And I started going 'I'm sick of these on my cups, makes it look messy and I can't even use them!' then OH pointed to a nice bigish mark that said 'For PAYG or CONTRACT' duh!
Wendz - I was saying to my Mum afterwards how it's mental because they aren't even real toys and I'm there on the edge of my seat getting all into it and weepy!!
Glad you had a nice break BirdieAnd how bloody lovely of your inlaws to give you that money!

Hello everyone! I have been so busy lately but reading every now and then. Just caught up!
Tete I have my fingers crossed for the house. It sounds positive though.
Birdie your inlaws are very generous! How exciting!
I love all the wedding plans, I got excited Cinny when I saw your 2012 plans! Me and my OH don't want to get engaged until we live together. Just because until then we still feel young! And I personally want kids after being married but it wouldn't be a huge deal if it happened before. I think OH is getting a bit broody cuz he was asking to hold my baby brother and was being all sweet talking to him. I love it!
Dinah, the house seems to be coming along well. I think you have done the right thing with the loan if it is stressing you out already! You always seem to make the right call when it comes to money.
Well done on the bargain cupboard Flower! I hope you are taking care of yourself x
I meant to take advantage of the free listing days on ebay over the weekend but I forgotI'm still trying to save for our house deposit but it isn't going very well. My OH has only just twigged that we only have 10 months to save and so far we only have £2.5k!

Why only 10 months Zig? Gosh you have a long way to go in ten months assuming you're wanting to buy not rent?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi Zig! I saw your name underneath the thread link and actually said 'Yayy, Ziggy!' I feel quite sad now
Wowzer, only 10months?! How much is it you're wanting to save? 2.5k is still a nice chunk to have, I'm sure you'll be able to do it
I'm in a mild panic about saving atm, I tried making a list putting what's most important to save for at the top. But they all had their own reasons to be number 1! Shopping is still my main problem, and tbh I just don't know what to do. I tried the 'moving out with OH is more important than *insert whatever I'm holding in my hand*' but it doesn't work because I then think 'but then this is really really pretty, and I can just be better next week!' but then next week comes around and there's something just as prettyI think I need to get busy with baking again or something, time baking = less time to shop. Or get back onto STP when I'm at home and my Mum's working as I'm banished to my bedroom then! Woah, that turned into a ramble!

Ha, I do the same!
Well I finish uni in 10 months and my grandparents (who I live with) are moving around then, and so are OH's parents so that could make it difficult. Plus, when I finish uni I need to find a job and we might need to move away and rent for a while if I can't find a job close enough. So basically we just need as much money as poss by the time I finish uni. OH suggested renting forever. But I want my own house.
I go through phases of buying stuff. I feel your pain though Cinny, it is difficult. My Nan bought me a money pot shaped like a chicken (I put all my £2 coins in it) and you can write on it in chalk and so I put 'House > Stuff' on it to remind meTotal Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Hey Zig, nice to see you back! I' a msaaive advocate of renting if it's the right thing for you at the time, which it sounds as though it might well be in the short term for you, but no I definitely wouldn't want to do it forever!I tried the 'moving out with OH is more important than *insert whatever I'm holding in my hand*'
Ha, I do this, but then I think, 'it's only £5, that won;t make a huge dent in the MOF...' but if you do that 10 times a month it does! Problem is I'm madly looking at housey things at the mo too so it's all going towards the same cause. I just have to remember that OH might want to have a say in the cutlery we haveso that stops me snapping up bargains when I'm out and about!
Still heard nothing about the house, I was surprised that they let it go into the weekend, I was expecting a phonecall on Friday afternoon to at least say we haven't got it. OH is going to ring them this morning - it's bad really because we rushed to get our app in last Monday and if we have got it he's wanting us to move in next Monday so that leaves us no time whatsoever, esp as it's unfurnished; and if we haven't got it, well then we could have been looking for something else, but they still have our wage slips and bank statements!
Anyhoo, Dinah I read with a foreboding feeling in the pit of my stomach when you said you'd got a loan, esp when you mentioned an 'extra' £6k that you don't even need (that's a lot of extra money!) so I'm glad you've seen sense and cancelled it, it's a horrible feeling to get yourself back into debt when you've worked so hard to get out of it. I'm looking forward to hearing this business idea too!
Wow, how exciting about all that lovely money Birdie - is it their wedding present to you? I see your point about not paying off the debt with it, but at least it should free up some extra money of your own to go towards itDid you get anything exciting in Barter Books?
We decided to go and climb Helvellyn at the weekend (again, it's OH's fave!) - first time we've been on a walk since about April and it has killed me, I can barely walk at all todayI'm also the only one in the whole of my team in the office all week - how rubbish, but instead of chatting on here all day I'm going to try and get a few reviews done...
Dinah my grandma was saying something yesterday about the Tesco points thing being stopped (ie, the vouchers for travel etc) in July (ie, this month) - not sure what she's on about as I've not heard anything on here ... has anyone else heard this? Might just be granny getting the wrong end of the stick!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
They're stopping the double points either July or August... but no they haven't announced they're stopping any of the deals with the holiday companies. Going to ask around now though!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hope so, what the heck am I going to spend £300 of Tesco vouchers on otherwise?! Even if it was withdrawn at the end of August I could cope, because I'd be able to borrow the missing bit to get enough vouchers to book New York (so excited about that)
Scary thing is I'm probably still going to have to take out a loan through the business to start that up, not sure what difference it will make being a business loan rather than a personal loan, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Had a good weekend on the matched betting, although me and moneybookers are not getting along - it won't give me my money. Grrr!
Just got a wedding list email - thank you Tete that's lovelyxxx
