Okay so the loan was short lived. After a night not sleeping we're giving it back, apparently we have a 7 day cooling off period or some such thing. I just can't cope with the idea of it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I think you are wise, just because of timing really. You have worked so hard to get here, it would be a shame if you didn't get to enjoy being mrs NIM for a while, and settle into the new house.
Pay off the debt and then maybe afterwards you might get the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy with a lump sum to start your business off? I have no doubt you'll be an excellent businesswoman. It's quite uncertain at the moment about the impact of cuts on the economy, perhaps after a year the outlook will be much more rosy and more secure to start a new venture.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
hmmm net is playing up, dual post.
Thanks Lara, but actually the plan is still to go for the business - its actually something that has grown in the recession, part of the make do and mend sort of mentality.
However we're just going to have to find another way of doing it, most likely I keep my main job for longer, and do the other job evenings and weekends and relly on my partner for the sales meetings which are required on weekdays. NIM has offered to take a second job a couple of evenings a week to help support us too if needed.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

That sounds like a really good plan:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

Glad you got yourself sorted Dinah, sounds like giving the loan back is the best choice, especially as it was giving you sleepless nights before you'd properly got it! Sounds like you've got a good plan now though, hope it all works out for you.
Hope everyone's having a nice weekend thoughHad a great day out with my OH yesterday, saw Inception at the cinema instead of Eclipse and like Tete said, you really had to think! Made up for it today though, went to see Toy Story 3 with my Mum. Was pretty sad! Got that 'just about to cry' lump in my throat about twice. Also got some vouchers free from the cinema, which'll save me and OH £3 next time we go. And I've been collecting those 50p mobile credit codes, got £1.50 worth so far so hopefully it'll come off my bill at the end of the month! Didn't know you could use them for contract phones and I've thrown quite a few away. I think 8 per phone is the limit, so I best keep count!

Hi All, sorry I haven't been around. I agree Dinah, there is no point taking the loan if your both not happy and comfortable with it.
what is left to do in the new house?
Decided to use some of savings (£250) from the ISA to put the joint account back in the black. Have told Mrs Poolie is has to stay there. There is a little on the CC but that is all budgeted for and transfers setup online to put it safe on payday till the statement comes in and I know the last day it must be paid.0 -

I think the loan might have stressed you out a lot, so sounds like the right choice. Will be hard work getting the business of the ground but will be worth it.
Cinny - I actually cried during Toy Story 3 haha, I am such a wuss.
We are back in the flat now after the weekend home. We went to see OH's nieces again this morning, love seeing them as they are so cute.0 -
Been working on business plan for hours, so complicated!
NIM and I have decided to make it a race, see who can make more extra income every month towards clearing the debt. August is geared on a 1:2 ratio - for every £1 he makes I need to make £2 to be even, given I'm going to be off for another fortnight at least.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hello! Back from my little weekend away, it was lovely but I'm so tired now! Looking forward to bedtime already! We're going to see Toy Story 3 tomorrow, can't wait! We were going to go this afternoon but we had a feeling we'd fall asleep in the cinema so decided to just come home!
We've also been having a nice time wandering around shops and actually thinking seriously about buying furniture, feels so weird!
Sounds like there's been a lot of money worries happening, you're probably right to not take the loan Dinah, for the sake of your mental health! And good luck with the business plan! I hope you can let us all know what it is soon!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
