Glad to hear you got the operation over Dinah, and fingers crossed it yields really good results soon. It's a tricky one with work, but this could have happened to anyone, and your honeymoon has been planned for almost a year. Better not look like you're having too good a time on any holiday snaps you bring into work, LOL.
Well done Cinny! That's brilliant news about your driving test, I am so impressed :T
We just got back from Malta, which was fab. We stayed in a little flat in an old Palazzo with a sweet little courtyard balcony. Valletta was gorgeous, very historic and we took loads of trips to other places on the island, in the amazing bright orange 1950s busses. Had a great time with OH, it was so nice to spend some relaxing time together, rather than one or both of us being stressed. We had a lot of fun and just chilled out. Had some amazing dinners, spent all our spends plus more. Feeling very good and refreshed now.
A bit bored now we are back! London is just as boiling as Malta, yesterday we were frazzled. Today seems better. Trying to decide what to do with the day, as it feels like I should be doing something. I got my Kenwood Chef so quite tempted to bake, but then I would only be forced to eat cake all week  There is a lot of house cleaning, ironing and DIY to do otherwise, but that doesn't seem so attractive :rotfl: I wonder why..... Meeting up with an old friend from Spanish class later, he has just been off to Argentina and Columbia for a year so I wonder what stories he will have.
Are you getting excited about the wedding now Dinah? Did you get your band/DJ booked? It must be nice to look forward to moving as well.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

Just remembered I haven't told you about our honeymoon issues. Thompsons called on Thursday to give us 'good news' - the company they are booking the honeymoon through can't get us on the return flights we booked, so they'll put us up in the airport hotel for an extra night and fly us back on the Monday.
This isn't good news, as NIM certainly don't have any holiday time left so will have to take it unpaid - and also because we come back on Monday no one can pick us up from the airport - which is 50 miles from where we live, and finally we're going to have to pay for a days meals and hang around at the airport hotel which is in the back of beyond, which just isn't the end to the relaxing honeymoon that we wanted.
Thompsons say we have no choice and they're doing us a favour not charging us for an extra night in the airport hotel, as the airline won't upgrade us for free and there are no economy seats left (but they were supposed to be booked in January?!) so we have to take the flights a day later.
NIM is trying to get them to upgrade us or to give us some spending money for meals or something - end of the day the lost wages plus meals are going to come to about £400, but they're adamant there is nothing they can do. Considering calling our travel insurers see if there is anything we can claim for this.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I would call the travel insurance people and ask their advise. Thompson should be doing everything for you since they have screwed up. Have you spoke to a Manager or somebody senior as they should be able to get it sorted especially since you have had the money. It is there error.0

I'm going to get NIM to ask for a manager, he's better than me on the phone, I'm the letter writter!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Good idea to set NIM on them with his Legal mind. Haven't you got paper work confirming all the bookings and the flight details? Thought you would have had some of this in writing when you booked and the tickets should have been on their way.
Certainly be looking for an upgrade on the Monday flight, free hotel at airport and expenses for food and essentials. Also might be worth saying you will be claiming for a days lost salary due to their error.
Technically, you and NIM entered into a contract with Thompsons which they are unable to complete so that a breach of the contract so they have to refund this error and resolve it.0 -
Jeez what a pain about the flights - travel companies are notorious for this sort of thing. It seems that they can get away with changing anything under their T&Cs, so it's definitely worth kicking up a fuss. I hope NIM manages to sort them out!
Big congrats to Cinny! Well done on passing your test, that's awesome news - happy motoring with Greg
Tete and Lara; you both sound you like you've had lovely hols with your OHs, so hope reality isn't too much of a shock to the system.
It really is steamy here in the cities - I wouldn't fancy commuting in London in this sort of weather!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Hi all! My trip away hasn't been quite so exotic as the others... I went to Filey! OH's aunt has a B&B there so we decided to go to stay there for a night since she and her husband are coming to the wedding and I've only met her once before! Her B&B is so lovely, really beautiful rooms and an award winning uh-mazing breakfast! The only problem was being woken up by seagulls at 4am! The weekend was more or less free too since she paid for dinner the night before and didn't charge us for the room so that was good! OH has just rung and told me that his cousin (the aunt's daughter) wants to come to the wedding too so that's getting sorted this week. Quite cool but a little odd since I've never met her and OH hasn't seen her in about 8 years, and she's bringing her BF who obviously we've never met either! The more the merrier though!
Congratulations on passing your test Cinny! Has it sunk in now?!
What a nightmare with the flights Dinah! What's up with holiday companies messing us about?! Good luck getting some compensation from them, they really should cover the loss of earnings, you should definitely get letter writing!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Sorry to hear about your holiday troubles, Dinah! I don't like how they're turning it around and making it seem like they're doing you a favour though! I'll keep my fingers crossed you get something much better than what they've offered.Congratulations on passing your test Cinny! Has it sunk in now?!
It has, just about! Worst thing was when I went to the Supermarket on Friday, first off I nearly forgot to get my pound back for parking, then when I came out I started walking home :rotfl: idiot!!
I like the sound of your little break Birdie!I'm getting the cottage for our winter holiday booked tonight, we're only going York way on again. But a break is a break, right? Need to get my car tax paid tonight too (ooh, I sound all grown up!)

What a nightmare about the honeymoon Dinah. Hope NIM manages to get you some sort of compensation as you don't want something like that upsetting the honeymoon.
Cinny - how funny about trying to walk home, that is the sort of thing I would do.
Birdie - the stay at the b and b sounds good and very MSE too!0
