Well done Lulu! Enjoy that twirly Martin! I've just checked my Quidco account and my £50 from the AA has finally come through, yay! I had to change my bank details though as I've closed the account that they had set up for me so I won't get it until next month, boo!

Sorry I have been so quiet. Don't know what my payrise and bonus will be yet. I will find out middle of June and it will be in my June payslip.

Off to Glasgow in June for a week to see friends and have a few beers so hoping it won't be too expensive.

I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread. Have you finished your letter about the surveyor? I'm actually a member of the RICS (I don't do surveys though) and hate bad surveyors who give the RICS a bad reputation!

If it's a letter to the surveying company, make sure you ask to see a copy of their complaints handling procedure, in accordance with the RICS rules of conduct.

If you're being confrontational, make them aware that they are potentially in breach of rules 4 and 5; competence and service.

Hi there, nice to draw lurkers out of the woodwork :D I've finished the letter, NIM is reading it this evening, hopefully get it sent tomorrow. What do you do that makes you a member of RICS?

Spent 2 hours trying to get hold of building control today at my council to discuss if we need full plans or just a building notice to put in the sky light, move a stoothing wall and put a bath, sink and loo in the enlarged room which only has a loo in at the moment. No answer at all, which annoys me, especially as I completely forgot to budget for building regs, and would like an idea of how much they're gonna cost us.

NIM called HSBC to get his CC limit increaed, but apparently they can't do it for 6 months after the card is opened. So no go there then. Real shame, but at least we can BT £500.

Hi Dinah, I like the 'supernanny' approach with NIM, especially if it works! I'm really bad when it comes to write my OU assignment, OH uses 'emotional blackmailing'-he lets me go to the gym in the morning than pretends for the rest of the day that he is really cross with me and won't talk about anything till I finish my assignment. He wouldn't even give me a kiss or be nice, he would just humm and puff all day long keeping an eye on me in front of the laptop. I so want him to be nice again that I do it within a couple of hours! And he said I could only buy new cookery books if I achieve 80%+ on my assignments- I had 4 of them this year ;)!

Lol nicely done. Maybe I should adopt bribery on NIM next year?!

Okay my creative ladies, thinking caps on. My brother's best friend's mum gave NIM and I a load of furniture at the weekend. Some of it is REALLY nice, there is an oak dressing table I would pay good money for, a pine bed I'm going to white wash then sand down to go in our shabby chic guest room, some office chairs, a leather computer chair, a blanket bo, kettle etc. She was really generous and I would like to thank her. She is a very creative lady (she's doing our invitations) so I'd quite like to make her something to say thank you. Does anyone have any ideas? She doesn't sew, so something in this vein might be good but I'm obviously a little short on time at the moment so it can't be something too elaborate, plus I don't want a month to go by before I give her a thank you.

  • I'm a quantity surveyor / cost consultant - I work closely with architects etc to determine budgets for construction projects.

No ideas what you could make as a thank you - I'm not very craft at all, I'm afraid!

I have no idea on what you could make Dinah as 'creative' is not even a word in my dictionary but that sounds like some lovely donations you got there!

Are you sending the letter today? Fingers crossed they face their responsibilities :)

Ooh Kavics, that would never work with me, I hate the feeling of someone keeping an eye on me or telling me what to do - I rebel!

Dinah I'm thinking along the lines of something that might be useful for her own crafting, some sort of organiser with pockets in for pens, knives, whatever you really use with card making, or some sort of fabric notice board? :o

So, all change on the wedding shortfall front. Its going from the sig! This is because between what we've already saved, and our two credit cards we can afford to meet all the commitments - provided nothing gets more expensive! Obviously we want to minimise how much has to go on the CCs, but at this point we accept something will have to, and the aim is to get it cleared as quickly as possible. So when we come back from honeymoon there will be a new debt clearance phase.

Been sewing my veil for 3 hours today. So bored!
