Hi all,
Dinah - how on earth do you have so much stuff to ebay and stuff that is worth something too. All my stuff is a load of rubbish haha. I do have a few watches of OHs we are going to ebay though.
Tink - it is hard at uni seeing your bf, we broke up and that was one of the main reasons although we were back together a couple of months later. The last year is so stressful as well. We didn't know what would happen after uni but I moved in with OH and i commuted to London for a while but hated it so decided to move up here. OH decided he wanted to come with me and turned out really well as he got the job in the police. My point being that it will all turn out OK in the end.
Poddle - I will leave the experts to your savings.0 -
Thats fab, I just need to convince NIM we should have a mega ebay listing weekend and we could well be under £1000 left on it by the end of the fortnight.
Did NIM have any say and what was the noise he made when he found out he was going to be ebaying everything that is not nailed down or required.0 -
I've just put a mixture of mainly DVD's (a few boxsets too!) and some CD's into MusicMagpie - 147 items in total and they're only offering me £108 in total  Which is ok for the older ones, but most of them are new and sealed. So I'm thinking of selling the old battered ones to them but trying the better quality ones elsewhere.
Has anyone sold on Play.com before? It looks free to me, but not 100%. You can sell DVD's, CD's and books etc...You can choose your own price to sell, which includes p&p. Are they any good?0 -
Try them in Amazon, I bet you're looking at at least treble the money. I tried play once but sales were a lot slower than amazon so I left again, but definately better than MM!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I have found Amazon to be good for DVDs as well. Haven't tried Play myself.0

I thought it was worth a shot with MM with the Quidco cashback, but even with that, its a bit of a shocking quote.
I'm gonna list them all on Amazon etc tomorrow and see if i have any luck :j Also written another Dooyoo review so will put that on either later tonight or tomorrow0 -
Thanks Dinah, it's a really good idea to work out an exact figure, rather than just plucking one out of midair which is kind of how I came up with £2k!
We don't have PPI on our mortgage, and in any case it wouldn't be valid as my job is contract rather than permanent. We're pretty optimistic that OH's job is safe, and we know from last year that we can almost cope on his salary, although it means no headway towards debts other than min. payments (which are about £800) and minor spending on a credit card.
Honestly, then I wouldn't make an emergency fund at this point in time. Thats a worst case scenario and you'd still be fine, so you might as well clear the debt quicker.
I'll definitely do some sums tonight! The regular saver is not fixed - I can deposit between £25-£300 and the interest is 4.17% pa so it's pretty good.
But surely your debts are at more than 4.17%? So any money in the saver is actually costing you money in the interest you are paying on the debt?
I think we're prepared to see the ISA money go - we thought a lot about it before we allocated the rest to our holiday and to install central heating (thank the lord!) which will make our lives much nicer and add to the equity in our flat. The holiday gave us some much-needed quality time together and we made lots of plans for our future, so I think we're in a place that we're happy without thinking about marriage.
Tete, another good idea about paying off a whole 'something' - the only problem is that the 'small' ones are interest free, but it would be great psychologically. I have a Natwest OD and GORP totalling about £400 at 0%, so if I paid those off I could close both (which would be handy for my credit rating) and still chuck £600 at the big Egg!
Thanks girls! It's so brilliant getting another perspective on things.Hi all,

Most of the stuff I sell is tatt! I rarely sell high value items, its all worn pairs of dotty p jeans, or bulk lots of videos and the like!

Now why would I go and do a daft thing like telling him?!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Lulu, I used MM really because a lot of the things I had were either a bit obscure or albums that I imagine the market is flooded with - things like White Ladder by David Gray etc. MM was convenient for me as I wanted rid but if you've got more patience then go for Amazon. Who was it said they always have two windows open and check both sites at the same time? Good idea. I didn't know there was Quidco!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Aww Tete, no! Its 7.5% cashback with Quidco. Hate it when that happens, i feel annoyed for you!
I wouldnt feel as bad if they were all used and abused, but most of them are sealed, so i think i'll hold out for a bit and put them on Amazon etc...Not like i've got anything else to do, now i'm a bum0
