in our one hovis bread is 2 for a £1.00
  • Popped into my local Farmfoods today, as needed dried yeast in Lidl's which is next door.

They had the following on offer, really good value, although not something I would buy regularly.

    McDougall's Cheese & Broccoli Lattice - 2 in a pack - £1.00 a pack BOGOF. 25p a go - can't be bad. Will last OH a month.

Young's Chip Shop Jumbo Fish Specials in batter - 2 in a pack - 2 boxes £3.00 - 75p a go, nice big bits of fish. Although this fish is in batter and I prefer breadcrumbs it is good fleshy fillets.

Hope this helps somebody else, assume the offers are nationwide.

I always wonder if Farm Foods and Iceland have the same suppliers for a fair few own brand things. Stuff like garlic baguettes, chicken nuggets, dippers, diced chicken etc. I have an Iceland near me and not a Farm foods but for some reason I still get their leaflet through the door and some products seem so similar, just branded LA diner(which seems to be an own brand?).

Hey, yep it did have skin on, but no bones which was a bonus for me! (Don't take my word for this though check yours haha) And I'd say it wasn't QUITE as good as ones from a restaraunt but very close, and for quarter of the price it was definately much more than quarter of the quality! Also I couldn't work out if you get quite as much as in a chinese - it filled 12 pancakes but didn't seem to be quite as much in each as I usually get - but this could be cause I chopped up a bit too much cucumber and onion so more of this might have made it feel like less duck, and I usually get the quarter duck from the chinese so maybe that makes a difference. Again though it was very close, and I don't think I'll be buying it from the chinese anymore considering the huge difference in price! Let me know what you think when you try it :)

Thanks for the tip Liz, I bought 2, and they were delicious - not in the same league as my local Chinese takeaway, but well worth the price. Shall be stocking up with a couple more at the weekend (if they're still in availble).

Our local 'Farmfoods' had the 3 bags of chicken fillets for £10.00 last Friday.
They also had the mince on offer for £5.00 (2 bags) plus stew £5.00 (2 bags).
Asked the young assistant when the offer was finishing & he looked @ me as if I was daft :eek::eek: he replied that he didn't have a clue !!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well that branch could do with having a visit from the Mystery Shoppers :)
The above offers represent good value considering the chicken fillets are normally £4.50 per bag.
    Hth.
