I'd love to join in too please. I'm obsessed with reading cookery books and have an ever expanding collection of well read but totally untested books! When it comes to mealtimes I have a habit of sticking to our tried and tested dinners or if I do venture to a new recipe it still tends to fall into either the pasta or stew camp...as I don't like to stray out of my comfort zone. I think I'm going to choose a different book every week and cook whatever dish appears when I randomly select a page(so long as its a main course!) This should hopefully result in some new dinners that I woudln't normally be 'drawn' to but might well be absolutely delicious! DH bought me Economy Gastronomy for Christmas so my first random selection will come from there. Really looking forward to hearing how everyone gets on.January Grocery Challenge £34/£200

I've dithered over this since I first saw the thread, but I've decided I have got to take part, if only to actually use some of my lovely cookbooks instead of leafing through them and drooling at all the food! Even if it's only something that takes ten minutes I am really going to make the effort to try something different at least once a week instead of sticking to my good old tried and tested recipes.
It might help make my DH a bit less fussy too, as he turns up his nose at so many foods.0 -
Evening all, up late due to watching darts!!! Go Whitlock!!!
Trying to decide what to cook new for us this week, DH gone offshore and 2 dd's are so fussy when it comes to new foods, don't like sauces very much and I'm 'eating healthier' from today so may be difficult.
Tomorrow I will be making another 2 Turkey pies, different to the last one as that had cream and one is for m and d and d doesn't like creamy pies!!! Will prob do turkey just with gravy, the other one for us so girls should eat this, pastry not exactly healthy but if I don't have too much and have lots of veg then I should be ok.
Also making banana cake/bread for sister, have make before but trying a new recipe so let you know what she thinks.
New Year's Eve I made Stilton and Broccoli Soup. MIL had some and said it was delicious, M & D taken rest home as D likes this soup, which is a complete surprise as he doesn't like anything!!!!!
Off to bed now, will let you know tomorrow what new meal we will be having this week.
Good night xx Taffy
P.S. I'm definitely in the James Martin gang, oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!! he is sooo yummy!Need to sort my life out! :T0 -
Hi all,
Can I join too please. Have just recently been thinking how boring my cooking has become! I have a big family and fussy OH so tend to stick to things I know everyone will eat (which isn't a great deal TBH) but will make them join in (after all I'm doing the cooking!)Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Great idea.
I have perfected pinwheels of all varieties now sweet and savoury and thats what we'll have for lunch today.Cheese and onion,BBQ ham, chocolate and the popular pizza flavour.
I have a new exec job starting the day I return from holiday so will need to be super organised and prepare interesting meals for my lot.:j
I plan to cook corn fritters, turkey and leek pie and the balsamic onion and potatoes mentioned in earlier posts - lovely.
Have lots of stock so soups will be a regular feature and also the turkey meat and carcuss will be recycled into roasts, wraps or pies.
Great thread, will peruse the cookbooks with postits poking out from the tops!
