    Morning guys!

Its shopping day today so I'm getting OH to pick something out of my books that I'll cook this week.

My carrot and honey soup did me for lunches all week - I just need to buy a suitable transporting vessle as chinese takeaway boxes make me nervous - I think they're going to spill!!
This weeks soup is going to be parsnip and toasted cumin soup.
Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:
  • (How do you do those nice clickys where it says a word instead of the link - can someone teach me?! Thanks)
    • Type what you want to insert the link into (in this case parsnip soup).
    • Copy the link that you want to insert.
    • Highlight the "parsnip soup" text.
    • Click on the little blue "world" icon above the text box
    • insert the link into there.
Have a go, and if you can't do it I'll guide you through :D

What were the smoked salmon fishcakes like as it seems like an awful lot of smoked salmon - 600g, 1.1kg of fish for 8 fishcakes to feed 4.

I forgot to say I adapted it as only had about 150 grams to use up OH loved them as he likes smoked salmon - I think you could make without and just add more seasoning.

    Can I join too, please?

Been reading this thread and now gonna take the plunge - I have over 40 cookery books that are ornamenets on my kitchen shelves - they get looked through and drooled at but very few new things make their way onto my plate

Off to check what to do for next week - meal plan done for this week!!

Well I've finally had a look through and started planning my meals for the next couple of weeks and decided on this for this week - probably Wednesday

    Chicken stuffed with cous cous

Unfortunately it's not out of one of my books - its from bbc good food :o but it does fit with the challenge of trying something new.

They also have a one pot version of this that I will try to get into the repertoire once DS1&2 and sampled from my plate...!!!

I'll post back on the results

  • hi all! This is a great idea and I am loving reading all and seeing all the yummie pics! I haven't got many books but am addicted to watching TV chefs make yummie things and taking down the recipe and not making it. Inspired by you all I have made Potato soup that I saw on an Irish channel TV3 with the odlums flour lady, and also Delia's meatballs in goulash sauce I found while browsing the net. I can't post photos as I am using my mobile phone to post but I will figure it out for this challenge! Both recipies were delish! The soup can be found at https://www.odlums.ie I used an extra carrot as I had no celery. the meatballs are at https://www.deliaonline.com (I think!).

    Happy cooking!

Yesterday I tried a couple of new recipes- a Gary Rhodes crispy parmesan chicken with Bill Granger spicy potatoes. Had to rope OH in at the last minute as I mistimed the preparation of the 2 dishes slightly but it tasted good and we managed to finish it all at the same time!

As I'm not the greatest cook it is challenging enough to get the food cooked at the same time and on the table.....keep forgetting to photograph it!

    Hi G

Do you have a Poundland nearby at all, mine recently had food type flasks that should do the job.

Some brilliant ideas on here. Im going to try the individual potato gratins with the roast chicken I'm doing for Sunday Lunch, I think - still have some cream hanging on in there in the fridge, nice way to use it up.

MIght have a try at the cheese and vegetable muffins - sounds like a tasty, portable lunch for DD1 at school tomorrow. She gets fed up with sandwiches but won't go into the crowded dining room any more - ends up standing around in corridors etc with her friends so won't take any of the nice stuff I used to send her with - says it's too much faffing around and they only get about 20 minutes to eat

SO - no more flasks of HM soup, pasta or rice salad or anythng else that needs cutlery !

Might experiment and add ham, tuna or flavoured quorn pieces etc, to make it more of a lunch.
