Yesterday was brilliant - DH's family are great and are very similar to my own so we all got on like a house on fire :j

No spend day as had purchased all the alcohol the day before :rotfl:

Today I have paid £3.80 to park for the day and also withdrew £10 to get bread from the bakers for the geese.

Not much going on here except work, hopefully will have a day off on Weds so I can sort my tax return and my tax credits renewal.

Plus I need to bring Barclycard up to date as I am a month behind :(

Been at work again - took all my own food in so no spend for food.

DD is off to a Tudor place later this week and has to take a tin mug so I have been to Millets and pucrhased 2 (one for her friend - his mum will pay me back) so that was £6 spent.

Have filled up with petrol tonight but DH did not get a receipt so will have to check the bank tomorrow to update.

DH has spent some money at the Post Office as he has been selling some bits on ebay - I will work out the figures tomorrow.

He has also had acuouncture so that is £40.

Before we collected DD from Brownies we got the petrol above and I ran into the main shop to get golden syrup and porridge oats ready to make Twinks Hob Nobs tomorrow ready for the trip so that was £2.58 from the food budget.

Will definitely not be at work tomorrow as DH's truck won't start so I have no way of covering relief at any school unless I can bike there :rotfl:, we replaced the glow plugs the other day so it must be something else.
I will pay the garage the outstanding balance and then ask them to tow the truck and fix it - hope it won't cost too much.

    :eek::mad::eek::mad::eek:AARRGGHH:eek::mad::eek::mad::eek:

DH's truck is well and truly broke - our usual garage can't fix it as their diagnostic machine does not link up with our type of car.

Rung a local dealer and they have quoted £84.95 just to put it on the machine :mad:

I then had to ring someone who he recommends to see about getting it towed to the garage and he quoted £85+VAT :mad::eek:

Rung the local 4x4 garage who thinks it might be the turbo but can't fit us in a so busy, he gave us a mates number. He says it might be the fuel pump, he will pick it up on this low loader and then sort it out.

Worst case scenario is £1500+ and best case is about £700 :mad::eek::mad:

Not sure what we are going to do. DH has no credit cards any more and I have 1 at the limit and another which I can't use as I didn't want to pay the high interest.
The other one I had to use today to pay for the oil which was delivered in May so that was £242 on the credit card and £100 from my account :mad:

Have also paid the garage bill - mine was £91 and DH's £54. he paid for his.

Seemed to do so much today but not much to show for it.

Did mention about us moving back to our other house and for relative to go into sheltered as we can't afford to run 2 houses - decisions, decisions.

Checked my bank and yesterday I had CSA paid , only £169 but I have moved this to into a savings account ready to pay for children related stuff.

Also had £10 from lottery and £27 from my relief work.

Am thinking about contacting my Barclaycard to go on to a DMP as I cannot catch up the missed payment and the interest they charge means the debt decreases by about £20 per month and on a balance of £7000+ I know it is going to take forever.
Will need to check at work as I can be credit checked at any time to make sure I am suitable to do my job so need to make sure this does not impact on it:(

cross=posted!:eek::eek::eek::mad: to the truck :( does dh have to have it for work and is it worth doing up or if he does need it perhaps it might work out better getting another run-around to replace it? :(

Our car has broken down so many times lately i feel your pain (and ours is yet to go for mot :( )

Only thing with the dmp is it will trash your credit rating, but if you are happy for that to happen i'd say go for it. I've never felt so relieved at having debt since i've been with the cccs

I'm glad the family do went well and that you enjoyed yourself. I'm sorry that you're having motor problems though, horribly expensive things cars.

Perhaps it is worth looking into the sheltered housing option for the relative just to see what is involved. You can make an educated decision then.

    Thanks for all your comments.

The truck is really for our hobby/business as we have a smallholding so need the truck to cart water/feed up to our field and also to take the sheep to slaughter etc.

If we didn't have the field we would manage with one car as I can bus home on the days when DH does not work a full day.

We didn't used to have a truck until DH brought one off ebay on the spur of the moment  for £5000  but we used my car to cart everything (before we had sheep) and my car eventually got damp and a bit mouldy from where water and feed had leaked.

Unfortunately (?) the truck is worth about £4000 so it has to be worth fixing.

The only good thing is that I can offset some of this against our profit as it is business related but that doesn't help us pay it now

Previously we have only had old cars so when things go badly wrong there is no question of scrapping it instead of repairing it but this time our cars are not cheap :(

So a question for you all.....

If you have a big bill coming up ie truck repair do you

    a) Spend absolutely nothing unless it is a matter of life or death so you have as much money as possible to pay the bill

    or

    b) Spend like there is no big bill coming on things that are not actually needed

The correct answer and what EE has been doing today and will continue to do is a :rotfl:

The incorrect answer would be b and that is what DH has been doing today  and will probably carry on doing

So I forgot to take a hob nob with me for my afternoon snack and I was hungry so instead of popping to the little shop next door which has reduced donuts at 5p I decide that it would be a waste - very :money:

DH texts me to say he has ordered some wood for his dog run project , it will only be £10 and he has this left out of his spending money. (Hmmm well blinking save it for the bill coming in you twerp :rotfl:)

We have been talking about getting some more chickens to breed for meat - we got some a few months ago - killed the males and kept the girls to breed from. We paid £3.50 each and when we killed them they weighed over 10lb so quite a saving.

I only eat the meat we produce so if there is no chicken from our own stock I won't have it - to be honest I am not bothered.

Today DH texts me to ask whether he should order some chicks as they are only £2.50 each. I say not to bother as we need our money for the truck, he says it will save money in the long run (no it won't as we would just do without chicken and have quorn - you twerp:rotfl:)

I thought he had listened to me but

Yup you guessed right he has ordered some :mad:

DH has gone up the field to lock the animals up and left his phone behind, it starts beeping so I look at it. I check the texts (I don't care - I have trust issues and we all know why ) and see that he has text the man with the chicks.
So DH has agreed to buy some chicks and feed for the turkeys to help them grow for Xmas (they are only 12 weeks they don't need this food yet ). He has agreed to collect them on Saturday and the cost is £53 so I assume he has ordered 10 chicks and 4 bags of feed :mad:

Hmm wonder where this money will come from?

    Is it life or death?

Well of course it's not but does DH care :mad:

I am not going to say anything to him and see what happens on Saturday.

Can you tell I am peeved :rotfl:

I think DH does it on purpose, he knows if he spends all his money he won't be able to go to acupuncture and I will then pay as I know he won't be able to work without having it.

I am supposed to be in charge of his bank account so I will hide his bank card and see what he says.

He barely has enough money to cover his bills and acupuncture never mind this truck repair and all these other things he wants to buy.

I think the problem is whenever we have had a large bill in the past I have always sorted it by either cutting back on paying childcare or putting it on a credit card - well not anymore I am fed up of juggling only for DH to sabotage it :mad:
