I have now cleared DH's Vanquis card - it was only £250 as they don't normally give high limits anyway.
This is some money from the food shopping for this month, my monthly payment to DH and some money for household bits owed on another credit card of his.
Hopefully with the minimum payment on 28th the account will be clear and he can write to close it before the end of next month - I shall set him a goal :rotfl:

gosh you have such a lot to deal with..well done on clearing the card0

Hi EE.
I follow your thread with interest and admire you greatly, although i dont feel experienced enough to comment usually, but on the subject of animals and as an animal person owning all manor of furry feathered scaled and reptilian species i would just like to say to to your comment about why do cats or pets in general only need to go to the vets when you are absolutely broke , er i have know idea but i know this to be true, just lucky i guess:rotfl::rotfl:
Que sera sera-whatever will be will be0 -
So...
took cat back to vet on Monday - another £30 , this was for a check up, another injection and some more antibiotics. Luckily we don't have to go back unless he gets any worse as they can see he is improving - I blinking hope so with all the meds he has had :rotfl:
Cat is so cheeky now, if he has not had his tuna sprinkled with antibiotic by 4.30 he is all over the work tops, under your feet and everything when normally he is outside. Methinks he will get a shock today as it is the last of the antibiotics :rotfl:
Things are kinda improving here, DH went back to work on Thurs and Fri - well I forced him to but he has thanked me for it. Work are actually being quite accomodating and are letting him do admin work for 2 weeks until appt comes through. Appt came through and is not until end of April so not sure what will happen.
Going to work has made him exhausted though as he usually sleeps in the day time, he is alseep now.
This means that he should be back on full pay and although he was paid sick pay for all of March his boss has agreed to send an extra payment across next week to cover the days he has worked in line with the financial year - hopefully this will mean I don't have to top up his account so much this month.
DH would like me to continue managing his account, I have ummed and ahhed and have agreed for now as he is not better (he might never be) so better that I keep track for now. I have created him a spreadsheet which shows what bills come out and when so he can colour them in green when they go out so hopefully he will be able to see that although he has £300 in his account, £250 is needed for bills and not for frivolous spending :rotfl:
DH has seen the spreadsheet and agreed that he can follow it but would like my input also. He says he is cured of his spending problems - I will believe this when I see it
DH still not able to drive so I am driving him to work which is going to use quite a lot of petrol but needs must etc.
Work have asked me to work 2 days in another office doing admin work, so I will then be working 4 days a week  and as it is the same town DH works in there will be no extra petrol needed except on the one day I don't work.
The pay is slightly lower than I get now, which it would be as I am in a specialised job but for an admin role it is good money. This should last three months so hopefully this will get the debts down quicker.
Just trying to deal with debts/life day by day without planning too much ahead as we don't really know DH's prognosis and if he is going to be this ill for a long time we will need to discuss our options

Balances as per statements:
Barclaycard - £7487.17
Amazon - £2248.64
Abbey - £715.41
DH's card - £722.70
Total - £11173.92
Reduction - £156.95 :j:T:j
I'm really pleased with this as I had to also pay another car repair bill from the other month, this came out of my bank account without going on a credit card.
Hopefully with the extra pay I get I will be able to clear DH and Abbey over the next few months
Although I am sorting DH out I am not sure whether I should list his debts because last month when I was in charge they reduced by approx £440 which was minimum payments plus some extra money I managed to find - this does not include the Vanquis which I cleared last week as the statement has not come in yet. On the other hand they are not my debts and he is ultimately responsible for them ?!???

Looking good.

Still trying to track my elec usage, when I started 3 weeks ago our usage for the week was £28.52
I did some tweaking of things and 2 weeks ago the usage was £24.41 :T
This week with a bit more tweaking the usage is £20.83 :T:j
Hopefully will see even more difference this week as DH should be at work for a full week so no extra TV and computer on during the day time.
Only thing is he has switched the incubator on so this will be on for the next 4 weeks while we hatch some turkeys - hopefully it won't use too much.
Also I am such a div, I forgot that we have 3 fridge freezers and 1 chest freezer so of course our usage will be higher than most people's
I keep thinking whether we could manage without any of them but I don't think we can.
I popped to the library and picked up an energy monitor so I have this for 3 weeks so I will be able to see what is using the most energy and see if anything can be cut back.

I am soo tired, this dealing with nearly everything is really getting to me. People keep saying that I need to look after myself, I tell them I am but of course I am not.
DH is managing to just about get up every morning and get DD's breakfast, whether he can get her dressed or her dinner ready is another matter - but then I have to remember he is ill
To be honest I am completely fed up of this now (well I was before but for some reason I really feel down today), if I could walk away I would.
So at the moment I am getting up about 6.30 - 6.45 (good job the clocks went forward as it was 5.30 - 5.45), sorting out the animals - approx half an hour, coming home grabbing breakfast, geeing everyone up to get ready, preparing the lunches, quickly getting dressed, getting the children to the bus stop and then going to work for a full day dropping DH off on the way, then I collect DH, then DD, come home, cook tea, gee her up for a bath - DH does normally bath with her, then lock the animals away and then I have time to bath and go to bed.
On the days I don't work all day I do the above (except obviously work 7.5hrs), drive DH to work, come home do some housework, go to work for about 2 hours over lunch, come home, do some more housework, collect DD from bus stop, feed her and then collect DH from work, come home and cook tea and so the cycle continues.
There must be more to life than this. Next week I start another role for 2 days a week although next week is only 1 day as I have something pre-booked for the other day. I told everyone at the dinner table tonight that on the days I work it will be jacket pots for tea but only if someone remembers to turn the oven on later afternoon, if they don't there is no tea.
I am hoping that I can walk in dish tea up and have a bit of time in the evenings.
So Saturday will be housework, housework, cleaning out animals and fitting in a visit to friend as it is her little boys bday Sunday.
I have told everyone that on Sunday I am not doing anything and I really mean it.
I have asked for this for Mothers Day http://direct.asda.com/george/women-s-clothing/g21-maxi-print-dress/GEM65114,default,pd.html
and got it because I brought it as DH has no money
Lets hope I manage the weekend without relative winding me up with his pathetic jokes - ah yeah forgot to say, the other day he got an email from Screwfix, they had a lawnmower in the sale (£300 down to £199) so he brought it as it was a good deal. Once he brought it he asked DH how he was going to cut the lawn this year, DH tells him the same as last year - with our mower which is only 2 years old - relative says oh, I wasn't sure so I have brought another mower
There is no room in the sheds so at the moment it is in the hallway blocking the way to the downstairs toilet. If I wasn't so annoyed I would laugh - of course he knows we have a mower - he has lived with us 1 year and in the summer DH cuts the lawn at least once a week - I reckon these are more signs of dementia
Onwards and upwards - sorry for moaning, I know there are people on here with worse problems but just needed to let off steam.

Ah pants. Return the mower to Screwfix. They'll refund it without question. They're pretty good like that... assuming you can find the paperwork.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
