  • t3319.gif Happy 8th Birthday Diary!!!

Just had a quick read of last years birthday post and its the same as I always post - bemoaning that I haven't paid off much debt and must do better etc etc

Well in 2017 I did try harder, my debt on 1/1/17 was £8003.75 but my debt today is £7091.11.
I managed to clear £912.64 of debt which was my credit card that had been hanging around for years.

I mentioned a year ago that DH owed £22k, I have just tallied his debts and he has managed to pay off £1779.76 (well when I say he I mean I used his wages to pay off his debts!!). Much better than the usual £200 which would normally be paid.
He has a debt with just over £500 left so I am hoping that by the end of Jan he will have enough to pay that one off as well.
A lot of his debts will fall off his credit report this year as they will be 6 years old so his credit rating is going to improve massively by the summer.

There is the small matter of some additional debt which I mentioned in early Dec but I wont add that to the debts above and instead will hopefully clear this from the joint bank account gradually plus there is 2 council tax free months coming up. It is about £825 so hopefully will have that cleared within 6 months.

So lets see what 2018 will bring me and this time it will be all about what I want (although DH did mention to me today that next month we will have been together 19 years and next year as its 20 years we should do something special:mad: - clearly my conversation with him a few weeks ago has slipped his mind:mad:)
  • Happy New Year EE.. would it be worth you putting together a 'freedom fund' if you can? Wishing you a 2018 full of things that make you happy x

Happy New Year! EE - happy :money: moneysaving - and I agree with Step-Up that a very private "Freedom Fund" would be a great idea for 2018.. ;)

  • Thanks for the comments everyone - I could start a freedom fund although it would have to be DH who leaves as the tenancy for this place is in my name, maybe I should start him a freedom fund:rotfl:

While he has been ill and asleep for most of the day I feel like I could continue living with him and should just put up with him but then when he is awake he does something to annoy me and I realise that this is not what I want.
If you recall the thing which triggered all this is the TV subscription, he obviously said he had saved money by signing up for this new thing, well the DD went out this week and it was £80 :mad:
So I guess in a way he did save money as the last DD was £86 :rotfl: but no of course he hasn't saved money because the bill only used to be £68:mad::eek:
When I spoke to him about it he said he had saved us £6  - honestly the man just doesn't get it.

Anyway DH has had a letter from Public Health England to say he has Whooping Cough:eek: - we knew it was more than the winter cough which the GP keeps saying he had, we went back this week to our own GP as DH had a sort of fit when he passed out and they still said it was the winter cough.

I will call the GP on Monday and ask to be tested as well.

There is no cure and we are too far along to have antibiotics so just have to wait until it passes - anything from 3 months:eek::mad: The one good thing is that we are no longer contagious so life can carry on which is just as well as I have been at work all week.
DH managed 2 days at work but had last 2 days off as I think he has flu (on top of the cough)

Its all go in the Elephant household as DS is back to Uni tomorrow and I have loads to do today as wont get a chance tomorrow.

Have been keeping up with Swagbucks by playing videos and have met my daily target each day so far so at the start of Feb there will be a nice bonus waiting.
Also doing a few surveys each evening but certainly not keeping on top of everything that is coming in - hopefully next week will be easier as the household will slow down as DS at Uni and DD back at school so I wont need to do meals, also hoping DH will be well enough for work.

Do you have separate finances or joint EE? I would take that £80 from your DH wages.

 at the whooping cough, I hope it clears up sooner than 3 months.

 at the Sky bill but in a way he’s done you a favour - reminding you that you don’t want to be stuck with this kind of behaviour for the rest of your life.

Well done on the swagbucks - I find the videos really help in gaining points & have even roped my DH in. Of course he has to get competitive about it - I made sooo many points today, how many did you get? :rotfl:
