Ah - I'm calm and relaxed once again. I can spend the rest of the day happy that I know how much you've spent on toiletries! I likes a routine!

I should be in the shower by now but....

According to the snowball calculator, if I can find £500 per month to service my debts I will be debt-free in November.

    1. This includes the money I spend on my minimum payment (£128) so only £372 to find

    2. Rent from lodger will be £300 per month from February (end of month) so only £72 to find

    3. Should also have a bonus in March from work so will be able to make lump sum payment then (Probably no more than £300 as paying for holiday funtimes too)

It's looking more and more likely that I will be debt-free in December in time for turning 30 :j:j:j:j

    That's great F_F!

I'm going to do a quick update before carrying on with the important business of slobbing about :D

I have no need of going to the shops for anything tomorrow, so the total for January spends stands thusly....

    Total budget = £666.66
    Total spent = £664.37

Tis a bloody miracle. My overspends have been small, but I really notice how significant they are in the scheme of things now.

A good example was today's shopping - I only needed milk, bread and tatties and was planning on going to Morrisons as milk is £1 for 2 litres, bread is normally reduced and tatties are 30p per bag at the moment.

My friend called and said that she was in Tesco and did I want to join her? Well, yes I did! Here is what I spent today:

£1 on milk (3 litres!) in Tesco
    62p on bread in Morrisons
50p on 500g spaghetti in Morrisons
50p on pears (Splitting £1 bag with my friend)
60p on two bags of tatties

I'm quite proud as normally I would just buy £30 worth because I was with my friend and taking advantage of her car. I'm going to head to Morrisons on Monday and start the February shopping. I really only need fresh things like fruit etc though.

I also went to Boots as I have managed to lose the body butter I've been using (Soap and Glory) and wanted to buy more with points. None there though :( I may well go to town tomorrow and pick some up.

Dinner tonight was MSE Bolognaise which turned 1kg of mince into dinner for two with five dinners worth for the freezer (Portioned for two as well) It's MSE as it had 2 handfuls of lentils, 2 handfuls of porridge oats and a couple of carrots hiding in there too. Om nom nom! I'm sure I could stretch it further, but Mr F seems to compliment it more if there's less s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g

Nothing else to report really. Back to iPlayer for me

I use bulghar wheat (or vulgar wheat as I used to call it) to bulk out bolognese - DD actually prefers it with the bulghar wheat added, so very much an MSE result there!

It has helped me out on many an occasion when we have had a few extra bods appear from nowhere at dinner time and I need to make my 1lb of mince stretch as far as possible!

That looks quite interesting hypno. Where would you find it in the maze that is Tesco? Also, do you just pap in a couple of handfuls and does it need anything done in terms of prepping it before use?

    Thanks!

I use Quorn mince when it's on offer and tell the kids it's meat! :rotfl:
I also have 101 uses for porridge oats, but that's about as MSE as I get in the kitchen.

Well done on being under budget - you rock! :A

bulghar wheat will either be with the rice/couscous type things, or will be with the pulses and "natural healthy grains" type things, depending on your local store - very cheap, easy to find and always available in health food shops too.

No prep needed (like I have time to prep.....huh....!) just chuck in a couple of handfuls and away you go - it bulks up very well so don't put in too much otherwise you will need to add more liquid to stop it spoiling.

It bulks up fairly quickly, so you can add it part way through cooking - also works well in the slow cooker if you are doing a big batch of stuff, but just add an additional slosh of wine to cover the liquid point above!
