yeah people like him should be reported but there are other genuinely needy people who by a technicality are "fraudsters" - I don't want to go into details but there are some people who through no fault of their own are on income support and supposedly "fraudsters" but to these people I am happy for my taxes to support...

...after all, we all support the royal family with our taxes, don't we?

    Like what/who?

I don't agree with grassing on people but looks like you have a good reason to

So your happy for people to go around breaking the law becuase you don't like "grassing"?

I know what you mean Crabby but the driving without insurance etc. is the one that really gets me. What's the point of us paying for ours if it becomes totally useless if hit by a git like him?

There are so many people, especially young families where they struggle but do things by the book that those who just don't bother make me angry. It's usually those that get bitten by the family credit problems too.

:T Yep I agree about this particular individual but feel sorry for the lady with the kids - income support is nothing and how they expect an abandoned lone mother to go out and work with 3 kids is stupid. I didn't see any of the royalty out and about when they had kiddies

The car insurance/licence I agree totally - my mother got hit from behind at some lights, and the guy was uninsured and unlicenced, no mot on car, but my mum didn't phone it in to the police within the limit (48 hours?), don't ask me why  so they said they'd have to prosecute her as well  i'd happily have gone round to his house with a crowbar but I'd be the criminal then  :rotfl:

I say definitely phone this guy in - he is capable of work just like the rest of us :T

Sugajen - when you speak to the different departments (dwp, csa) gather as much evidence as possible eg name of company/dates/times etc, - particularly for things that cant be explained away as 'one offs' or favours for a mate. The more you give them the better it is, so they can establish patterns.

If he's driving a taxi, he has to be licensed by your local authority, so speak to them also - and obviously the police for no insurance etc.

I really hate the attitude of turning a blind eye to something serious, particularly when this lunatic is driving - maybe around any of us - on the roads.

Just started to gather the phone numbers I need, its bleeding sunday! most places are shut, but like a couple of people have said its a good idea to gather as much info as possible, maybe put it on paper so I dont forget anything...(obviously this will be burnt shortly after)

And its quite difficult to make private phone calls with 3 kids running round, especially as I dont want them to hear (and my kids are great for letting my secrets slip), so they know nothing.

Absolutely. Make a list of what you actually want to report, then write down who deals with this and their numbers. If you've got the 'net (oh hello! OBVIOUSLY youve got the net! Brains having a lie in....) you might find a lot of this info on their web pages.

Most will be shut sunday, but this gives you chance to sort it all on paper.

Can you children stay with a friend/relative for a hour or so while youre doing this?? Or when theyre in nursey (if they go).

If you appear to get brickwalls from who you report all this to, dont give up.
    Well done, and good luck.

I do think he should be stopped for driving without insurance etc and for the benefit fraud. However although it is not really relevant to the fact it is still wrong - I wonder why you want to do it now? I assume he hasn't just started doing dodgy things - what about when you were still together was he at it then? Is it less about the moral high ground or bitterness? As I said, the driving is definately completely out of order but you say he has never driven your children of 4 and 5 - why have you waited until now? It doesn't make it right what he has done and he should be stopped.

Like someone else said, don't expect anything to happen straight away. My brothers ex wife left him with a whole lot of debt and 2 kids to look after and never contributed a penny towards them. She had the house in her name only and was claiming she was a single parent (he didn't know any of this until she left) so she was getting housing benefit and money from the DSS and she was working full time under a false NI number. He was basically kicked out of the house as his name wasn't on the tenancy agreement and ended up living in a complete dump. She on the other hand was re-housed by a different housing association and gave up work (officially) so that she didn't have to pay anything towards the kids. He found letters from the DSS regarding how much she was claiming for and he had payslips from her job dated the same time to prove she was working but when he phoned them he was told that they couldn't do anything about that as it wasn't a current fraud.

She has had several different houses and in each she has used different names to get the phone and cable tv installed and each time she's moved on leaving the bill unpaid, she's used her maiden name and even her mothers maiden name. He phoned the fraud line again after he found out that she was working in a pub and gave them a detailed description of her, she's not hard to spot as she has a very noticible birth mark but again nothing happened. The next time she was working in a chip shop he phoned and someone did go into the shop and inquire about her but she just gave the job up and nothing happened to her. The only thing she has been caught with is claiming legal aid when she was working but I think she was just told to repay the money and that was the end of it.

The best of it was when my nephew decided he wanted to go and stay with her after an argument with his dad, he received a letter from the CSA stating that my brother was to make payment to them for my nephew. She really is a nasty person, or maybe she's just pretty stupid. When they were still together everything came out as she had been claiming to be a single parent and they had notified the CSA, they told that they would be taking £60 per week from him, she thought that everything would be ok as they would take it from his pay and give it to her. It was only then that he found out that she was claiming he wasn't there when he received a nice letter from them at his work telling him that they would be deducting his pay by £60 a week.

Some people seem to get away with it for years, on the other hand when my sisters kids were young and she took a cleaning job cash in hand when her husband wasn't working, someone phoned the DSS within 2 weeks and told them she was working. I personally think that more people should report tax/benefit fraudsters, why should other people work hard to fund them.
