I've read about the Virgin twilight check in, is this still available and where do I need to go to check in for the flight the night before? Also I've read that if available you can pay a bit extra at check in (£30?) and get some extra leg room seats, my questions regarding this are is it worth it (I'm about 6'2") and what's the likelihood of them being available if we do the twilight check in?
more info on twilight checkin here - so definitely available:
http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/manageyourflights/diycheckin/altcheckin.jsp
basically, you go to the same checkin desks you would normally (ie. on the day), but there's usually no queue
May 2008, we managed to pay £75 for the pair of us to get upgraded to exit row seats (i'm 6'2" too) and it was worth every penny! (especially as we were at the front of the plane... i know you still have to wait for bags etc but i love getting off the plane quickly!) - some people don't like exit row as 'people crowd there', but when we went they didn't... tho that could have been due to my big gangley legs draping everywhere - so for £15 extra, you can get an exit row (unlimited space in front of you, unless you're right by the plane door where the space is impeded!!) - you have the risk of some stranger / weirdo next to you tho
The £30 seats weren't available when we went, but i think a few people on here have been since they restructured the plane to accommodate them... either way, it's a long flight - my advice is go for it! (though the £30 ones will be at the back of the plane)
the liklihood of them being available at twilight checkin is much higher than the liklihood of them being available on the day!0 -
MayYes I have cancelled a booking with them a few times - never any problems (though I always check when I book that the particular hotel is not an exception and can be cancelled at no cost). They ask for a reason and I just put 'Change of travel plans'.
Think you might not be able to book the same hotel for the same dates with them though. Try www.hotels.com instead perhaps.
Thank you!
Just cancelled booking.com and gone direct for a room 2 steps up in terms of quality, and the same price.
I shall still try the $20 tip again though!!!0 -
MayNext question:
Is it worth £20 pp each way (£80) to choose seats, the only 'pair' is the very back, LHS of the BA plane, all exit seats cannot be booked.
What are all your thoughts?0 -
January , FebruaryNevada’s first male prostitute has started working at the Shady Lady Ranch, located 150 miles north of Las Vegas on US95 between Beatty and Goldfield. “Markus,” 25 years old, five-nine and 180 pounds, is a former !!!!!! performer. The so-called “prostidude” charges the same as the Shady Lady’s women: $300 per hour and $500 for two. As of this writing, he hasn’t, reportedly, had any customers.0

The extra leg room seats at the back dont look any different to me. I think they removed six inches of cabin staff jump seat and gave an inch to each of the last six rows.illegitimi non carborundum0

This is old news. Update here:-After 10 days on the job, Nevada's first licensed male prostitute finally attracted his first customer, a self-employed woman in her mid-40s to early 50s who "seemed like she knew what she wanted."Soon, Markus won't be the only man sharing office space with the working girls at the Shady Lady. Davis said she has already lined up a second pioneer of prostitution -- call him Buzz Aldrin to Markus' Neil Armstrong.
"It works better the more you have, because people want to have a choice," Davis said.
She described the new guy as 23 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and "a little on the slim side." He was born in the United States to Russian parents and speaks with an accent.
"That's going to be really great, because he sounds like Chekov on 'Star Trek,'" Davis said.0 -
SeptemberAnyway, couple of things I wanted to ask for clarification on. We're staying down at Gatwick the night before we fly and I've read about the Virgin twilight check in, is this still available and where do I need to go to check in for the flight the night before? RobThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Exit legroom seats only become available at airport check-in, (there are 18 available), look here for the layout. so if you do twilight then you will have a good choice. My favorites are 25A/B, (you can ask for these specifically when you check-in) if you are a couple then you don't have to pay for A as it has the slide shoot box jutting out a bit into your legroom but I just use it as a leg rest, so 2 extra legroom seats for the price of one. These are cracking seats as you get off the plane first, even before upper class because you are sitting at the exit door and they like to get you out of the way before general unloading. Now to be first off of a plane with more than 400 pax. on to clear immigration is a great bonus. Some say that because you are near the galley people tend to stand around the area in front of you, well just get your roll-along down and place it in front of you as a leg rest, keeps everyone out of your "space", OH sometimes sits on the floor in front of the seat during the flight anyway.0

Can't see any pairs here, but seatguru could be wrong. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
January , FebruaryThanks for all your replies, very helpful as I knew they would be!
According to the seat guru site (thanks stoneman!) it would appear that row 21 are also in economy, I realise that we would have to pay for 2 in this row but is there any drawbacks to those seats and are these £30 each as well? Also, how much room do the trays and tv's in the arm rest take up as I wouldn't be able to class myself as being skinny!!
I was looking on the virgin link (thanks nvh!) and it says on there that when retunring you are able to check in for the flight at the Luxor (for a fee). Would you be able to upgrade your seats at these check ins as well? Has anybody done this rather than checking in for the return flight at the airport?
Thanks again for all your help.
