Going to vegas for the first time this Feb, anyone got suggestions on which Cirque Du Solei show to go to? Also anyone know a good way to get reduced ticket prices?

Or is booking when we are there a better idea?

Going Feb 4-12 from Dublin via Gatwick (with GF) and staying in the Signature at MGM first 4 nights (expedia package-€1165) followed by 4 nights at the Venetian (€328 with cityandshow.com).
Looking forward to Superbowl, NY NY rollercoaster again (241 from LVA), Cloud 9 (241 from LVA), Grand Canyon Ranch adventure(viator with FSAV7 code- $483) Premium Outlets+FS Mall (for the GF)
As regards shows I'm waiting til I get there: Have seen Mystere at TI before. May try Viva Elvis, KA or most likely cirque-type show Le Reve at Wynn as well as Blue Man Group again.

As regards Superbowl I'm unsure where to watch it.

    I wouldn't be so sure.

Currently Virgin's cheapest flights are £458.80 broken down into £230.00 for the fare and £228.80 for the "Taxes, fees, charges & surcharges".

When i booked for March 2009(in December 2008) the fare was £361.10 broken down into £76.00 for the fare and 285.10 for the "Taxes, fees, charges & surcharges".

Not long after i booked the fare went down again by £59.60 due to a decrease in the fuel surcharge.

So they are currently charging £230.00 for a fare they were selling for £76.00 last year. I’m pretty convinced it’ll come down more, I’m not booking anything yet.

I would recommend "Ka" if you like action.. we were sat 4 rows from the front... it was truly an amazing experience... and well worth the price we paid.

I was disappointed with The Beatles, LOVE show, probably because after seeing Ka and O, I was expecting something similar or more but didn't get it.
  • Looking to go back again this year for our 1st year anniversary.
Hopefully will be able to get 1 reward flight on BA after a trip to Rwanda in a few weeks making things cheaper, otherwise it's looking like £458 each + 2000 miles each with virgin.

Looking at 12 nights out there this time, currently got our eyes on 6 nights at the Encore for $1053, 3 nights downtown somewhere, then 3 nights towards the south end of the strip.

    I'm assuming that's a miles+money fare

No, thats a standard fare during a cheap period, so 16th - 23rd March 2010.

But like i said before they are currently charging £230.00 for a fare they were selling for £76.00 last year. In fact last December/January the flights for March 2009 were coming in under £300.

I'm convinced the prices will drop to at least £350-£370.

You will get as many answers as there are Cirque shows (perhaps exception Criss Angel's Believe and possibly Zumanity - but the latter more because it seems the one the least people have seen)...it's really a personal preference thing and impossible to say which you will like most.

Unlike greatdimes - we loved Love - have seen it twice - and prefer it over Ka (which we saw after Love) and possibly even more than O (which was our first Cirque show).

I do think that Mystere is a more entry-level Circque show - we loved it the first time we saw it, but the second time we saw it after our second time seeing Love...compared to the spectacle of Love, Mystere was a bit of a let-down...and some people (trets, I'm looking at you) hate the clown in Mystere. ;)

As for cheap tickets - the first page of this thread gives some options for reduced tickets before you go - specifically https://www.smartervegas.com, https://www.travelzoo.com, etc. There's also this one:

    http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/lasvegas/en/promotions/index.asp

Some people have had luck at the 1/2 price booth (though not usually 1/2 price) and some have had luck at 1/2 price tickets at the box office on the day...it really depends on which show you want to see (O seems to be the least often discounted of them) and how sad you will be if you miss out by not booking in advance.

For all Cirque shows, being close is not a benefit...we learned this the hard way (twice :)) Mid-way back is generally best, but I'd pick the last row over the first anytime.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
