We are going to vegas nov 2011. we are staying at the mgm grand for 5 nights. So have been looking at what to do.
There is so much to do. Would like to go to the canyon but dont fancy spending a whole day on a bus, so looked in to flights. does any one know any thats not going to cost the earth. The ones i have found are all $400 and more per person.
Another thing is to do a couple of shows.
Any one recommend any.
Is there a must do when in vegas?
Have you read page 1?
I prefer driving and staying over for 1 night at the Canyon0 -

The non-stop BA LHR-LAS flight is fine, quite good really. I also don't like the 3-3-3 configuration for the 777 as you have a random stranger in the aisle seat. However it doesn't bother me too much as I usually only get up once during the flight.
The service was OK, but I found that American Airlines came round far more frequently with drinks than BA although you can go to the galley at any time.
I found the sound system to be quite good and the provided headphones blocked out most of the aircraft noise and I didn't even need to use my own noise-cancelling ones.
However I would suggest getting snacks or sandwiches for the return flight. The food on the way out was good, but it was rank on the way back.0 -
AprilThey were a few rows from the front, on the couches! Really comfortable - how did you enjoy the show? To be honest I wasnt really into Elvis before I went to it, I learned so much from the show as I was unaware that he was in the army etc...when I got home I bought books etc lol
We thought the show was OK - I realised shortly into it that I was always going to compare it to Love and as Love is in-the-round there was no way Viva Elvis would ever win...I did enjoy it, but it's probably my least favorite Cirque show - though that's not terribly fair as it's not very Cirque-y.
We think next trip we might see O again - haven't seen it in years and thought it was stunning. We also said if we could get really cheap tickets we would see Love again (3rd time).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thanks ferf, when I make it back to Vegas I shall go and see Love, the reason I picked Elvis over Love was only due to knowing more Elvis music - so its the only Cirque show I have seen. Defo need more VEGAS time!0 -

There are ALOT of must do's in Vegas just depends what you like really - I would defo recommend going to the top of the stratosphere, looking over Vegas (I wasnt brave enough to do the rides though)...also the Bellagio fountains are a pretty picture! Downtown (Fremont St) is almost a must.0 -
October , Novemberim gettin kinda nervous now- we go on wednesday and i hope ive got everything sorted.
i booked the limo from a1 limos, for the airport transfer and it was priced at $50 which i thought was a bargain but last night I got an email saying my card has been charged $70 odd because a fuel charge, 20% tax plus an airport fee! feel like ive been ripped off lol!1 but i suppose its my own fault for not reading the small print and/or t&csnot so much of a bargain now!

AprilHi all,
I would just like to say how helpful this thread has been to me over the last few weeks, thank you to those who have contributed.
I am helping my brother in law "to be" arrange a stag do in Las Vegas next April. We are wanting to stop over 4 nights. We do have a few people interested already, and for those who cannot make it, there will be a night out locally after the vegas trip.
We have looked into the likely costs and are almost at the point where we can book the trip.
Now, i would like to write invitations to everyone, so everyone has the chance to join us. Does anyone have any idea on how i word it please, or where's the best place to get free templates. I need to mention the fact that they will need to get themselves an "ESTA" before booking and some other important info.0 -

Personally, I wouldn't mention ESTA on the invitation...as it will only be relevant for those who want to go, I would plan to send out a follow-up to everyone who wants to come with a list of things they will need to be sure to do and when, some before booking, some after, etc. I would keep it a bit more simple for the invitation itself if it were me.
Technically you don't need to make the ESTA application before you book...thought with a big group, I can see the logic in suggesting that as if there's anyone who would not qualify for whatever reason, they would know before they have booked anything.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thanks Ferf,
that was what i was thinking really as the invite could get quite long-winded if i had to mention every detail.0
