If you have to pick money up at the airport what we do is use the travelmoney maximiser on here, grab a screenshot of the rate you could get from the top place (most likely ThomasGlobal) then go to Travelex and order the money to pick up at Gatwick. Email Travelex the screenshot and they will match that price. What they do is give you money at their online rate but you don't pay till you pick it up, and send you a cheque for the difference, used them a few times and they have always been good.
    Travelmoneymaximiser
    Travelex
Travelex price promise look at no.7 in the T&C

watch out for card provider charging you to buy off Travelex . Maestro First Direct didn't ever charge us and there is a list on the forums about this somewhere .

but you have to pay up front whatever i believe .

you should consider Crown Currency exchange cancelled contracts . good feedback from people on here .

failing that try your local travel agent and order some cash for collection on the day you get paid . i always get mine to push up the exchange rate a bit by telling them i can better elsewhere . don't order loads , just enough to tide you over till you can use your clarity card in Vegas .

so im kinda planning a rogh guide of things i wanna do whilst im there and im wondering if you would be so kind to give me a list of your top :-
    breakfast places
    lunch places
    dinner places

as many as you like but reasonably priced as poss im afraid - our pricey meals are booked already!)
so i can note them down and hope to remember them if i encounter them, hopefully this means i wont get over-hungry and end up eating crappy food in an overpriced restaurant when my belly wins over my money saving head lol!! iykwim!
edit to say - central strip as poss please :)
thank you thank you thank you - i always prefer to have recommendations for restaurants lol!!

    Breakfast : The Peppermill ( over the road , Circus Circus area ) . Carnegie's ( Mirage ) . Red White and Blue ( Mandalay Bay ) .

Lunch : we tend to have a light lunch where ever we are ( sandwich , burger ect ) . when you see the portion sizes you get in Vegas you will only really need a proper Breakfast and Dinner . Most Buffets will do you okay if you want a tad more . Mandalay Bay Buffet is nice setting in the daytime .

Dinner . where to start . well try post 4 of this thread where we have a few homemade restraunt reviews .

Spice Market Buffet and Bellagio Buffet are the best Buffets IMO . Bellagio is expensive .....but is such a treat , it's hard to not pay it a visit . Beware the queues though .

Ellis Island $6.95 Steak dinner is not on the menu , you have to ask for it . Probably the best deal in Vegas , full stop .

if you can pick this book up at reasonable price , it should point you to few good "locals Favs"

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Unofficial-Guide-Las-Vegas-2007-Unofficial-Guid-/190428020342?pt=Non_Fiction#ht_2080wt_937

don't worry to much about a few years out of date . but don't go earlier than around 2007 IMO.

PM me if you want to borrow mine , and send it back when your done ( if i can find it among the chaos that is our house at the moment . Baby on the way so much to do )

Breakfast: Agree with Trets on Peppermill, though some will say that it's not that reasonably priced, we love it though. Main Street Station buffet is downtown but very good we think and 2-for-1 coupons are plentiful. We love Paris breakfast buffet.

Lunch (any of these could actually be lunch or dinner - normally we also skip lunch, but I'm putting them here anyway :))): PF Changs at PH, Stripburger, Grand Lux Cafe at Venetian/Palazzo , Caf! Ile St. Louis at Paris

Dinner: Ellis Island BBQ, Spice Market Buffet ($5 printable voucher at destinationcoupsons.com)

Breakfast buffet - Bellagio is no more expensive for breakfast than other places and very good. Spice Market at PH and we like Harrah's buffet.

Cheap breakfast - La Salsa Cantina $3.95 for bacon or sausage, breakfast potatoes, egg and a tortilla. There is one inside the Miracle Mile and one down towards the MGM.

Ellis Island do cheap breakfast and you can get steak and eggs for $4.99 or $2.99 before 6am.

We don't often have lunch, but like Panda Express for Chinese. Upstairs at the Showcase Mall, towards MGM, and there is one between Harrah's and Casino Royale.

Dinner - we don't like buffets for dinner, but if we do have one it's usually Spice Market or Harrah's at average cost of $23-26. Bellagio is very good at $28 or the gourmet dinner is $36.

    Price of buffets HERE

Dinner - PF Chang's, Cheesecake Factory at the Forum Shoppes. We usually get an entree to share with a couple of sides.

8 lads off to Vegas in October - I've read elsewhere about 'Blondies Bar' near the Planet Hollywood/Miracle Mile area, and heard that most nights have $20 all you can drink on Bud and Bud light. My question is, vegas.com says I'll need TWO forms of I.D? is this standard?

    http://www.vegas.com/nightlife/bars/blondies.html

It looks like the two ID thing may relate specifically to weekly events that will bring in a young crowd (college night, beer pong tourney). You could email them on blondies54@yahoo.com to ask. In general, in the US and especially in Vegas if they have a rule about ID they generally stick quite closely to it. I worked places grown up where we were told to card anyone who did not have grey hair. :)

Their website says $20 all you can drink drafts and wells 3-6pm every day.

Current Crown Currency cancelled contracts (so much alliteration!)

    1.6103 - delivery on after 23rd September
1.6228 - delivery on or after 11th October

To order, please call us free on 0800 612 7273

Just ordered some more for our October trip, just couldn't pass it up - even if I will kick myself if it goes up again, but their standard rates for this period are 1.5499.

Did you get this though a mail shot or just phone up and enquire

Yes flew the much cheaper Dublin connection at the beginning of this month and have used CO thru EWR in the past.

Virgin were "OK" on the way out and had the flight attendent from heck on the way back. Everyone was asking for comment cards to complain she was soooo rude. However it's quick -food was edible but no more than that-and seats are much narrower on VS than CO.

If you can get it for the same sort of price I'd consider CO to be the far superior airline and I'd choose Belfast if the connection times weren't too long (actually I'd choose them even if the connection time was long TBH but I'd hop on the bus to Elizabeth and kill the time in the outlet mall rather than at the airport)

My flights with Virgin have always been on time but I do have friends who got stuck in Vegas for an extra two days after a plane went tech. At least with the other carriers they have other choices and will get you back via another route rather than make you sit it out.

Booked the Continental route from Belfast. Only a little more expensive and as I live in Belfast I won't have the tired drive home from Dublin on our return.

    Thanks for the advice.
