We're going back to LV in September for a week, we stayed in the Excalibur in 2007 and whilst it was OK for a first stay, I wouldnt stay there again. It was tired and a bit run down, the room was clean but it was shabby with stained carpet.

We're staying at the Palazzo this time, cant wait! :jHoping to book a good deal for a car whilst there too, does anyone think booking at the airport will be cheaper than going through the hire places at the Bellagio or Circus Circus?

    Thanks!

PS I have tried searching the site for these answers but couldnt find the ones I needed.......

Todays Groupon is a night flight over Vegas with story airline, anyone used them before any views the $85 seems a good deal

I've been looking at that too but can't find much in the way of additional information or reviews:

Story Airways own website http://www.storyairways.com/LasVegasNightTour.html seems to be having problems - I can't get on there, although this could just be me - our internet seems to be playing up tonight

It does sound pretty cool but I think we'd struggle to get out to Henderson without a car - apparently you have to make your own way there, they don't come and pick you up as part of the package.

It used to be - and once you consider the cost to get to the hotel as well it may be worth picking it up when you arrive - plus since the hotel car rental desks are open shorter hours you may have to wait to pick it up your first morning...we're always up really early and out long before the car rental place opens.

You could compare prices for the two easily enough. But not sure why you would go to Bellagio or Circus Circus? There's a rental car desk in Venetian, I'm almost positive. You could check prices for different hotel pick up locations I suppose.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

But when you map it its just at Mccarran? So not to far for a taxi unless I'm looking at the map all wrong!

Googling finds hele flights over Vegas for $69. Was there anything different to make the Groupon worth the extra?
P.S. just saw the facebook page,(can't access the website either) seems a good deal.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

It's funny, because I wouldn't...though I've never stayed at MC so I can't say about the rooms or pool...position-wise, I suppose it's better...but we kind of feel like the MC is a bit worn out and run down...while Excalibur certainly has its drawbacks we would choose it over MC I think though it's been years since we've stayed there.

That said MC now has a Cupcakery, so maybe I wouldn't choose Excalibur. :)

:D have you tried them yet ? I think they are a lot of money for what you get....nice though

Do you mean hiring a car when you arrive at the airport or hotel?

If so the answer is no...the insurance excesses will be more than the cost of fully inclusive hire through a UK broker

Try travelsupermarket it will bring up all the deals or go straight to someone like Netflights

If you mean just picking up at airport or hotel I have found there to be no difference

You've of course absolutely right...I hadn't thought she might be asking about not booking in advance and just renting from one or the other when she arrived. It looks like you're also right on the picking up from the hotel not being more expensive...when I'd looked before it was when I was still renting direct and in those cases the base rate is normally more than picking up at the airport, but the taxes are less, so sometimes it's more and sometimes it's less to pick up at a hotel.

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer.

I did mean is it cheaper to book a hire car from the UK for collection when we reach LV or is it cheaper to hire a car once there? (from either the airport or our hotel). We're staying for a week and were going to organise the car hire during that week then do a road trip for the next two weeks, returning to LV for one night then flying home.

Thanks for all your replies so far though! :)
