Have you ever tried a quote though, from the hotels, I have and it has always come up with nothing available.

So it still might be best to call them

Have just worked out where the problem is. My flight leaves LAX at 14.30 so I was entering a pick up and drop off time of 12.00. And so it turns out that the strip hotel rental desks are nearly all listed as being shut for lunch for that time ! So that is why I was not getting any as a possible pick up location ! Who would have thought anyone takes a lunch break in Vegas :question:

The desks at the hotels are normally 1 man operations. I've used the Dollar at Bellagio, Luxor and, ahem, Circus Circus.
Even people in Vegas need a lunchtime to [STRIKE]gamble[/STRIKE] eat

Quite a few in-direct flights avaliable around the £460 mark atm.

I intend to book as soon as my father has the dates confirmed as holidays at work.

Then, I wont be looking again!

I think George may have cracked it with the timing thing - I had checked all the way through to the selecting the car you wanted and all was well - hadn't thought about the times the desks are closed.

That's one of the negatives about renting from a strip location - also less likely to get a choice of cars, more of a take what you're given...we got offered a Pacifica from Bellagio, which was an upgrade but noooo way was I going to drive that thing. Luckily something else came available quickly or it might have been a long wait for me!

I posted this over on the car hire section but will just post it here again incase most of you didn't see it.
I hired a car for 1 day from Dollar at Las Vegas picking the car up at 17:00 on the Thursday. The hire was booked via Europcar at the inclusive price of £18, very good deal I must add for only one days hire. Well, I returned the car at 17:20 the next day and had it booked in. I made sure there were no extras like trying to charge for damage or under filling the gas back up, and away we went.
This month I see a charge on my CC for $98 from Dollar. I queried this with them and it turns out that because I returned the car "Late" IE 20 minutes beyond the 24 hours, they have charges me the full fare for a 1 day hire including all the bells and whistles.
Now because I belong to their loyalty club and hire from them quite a bit, I contacted the supervisor at Vegas and got the charge scrubbed, but beware, I only got this because I raised the roof with them again, and I see less fortunate souls not getting such preferential treatment.

Been looking quite a bit at people advising who to go with for car hire. We never go with one company as sometimes others are cheaper. What I do is use moneysupermarket to compare, and if one of the top 3 companies that comes up is on Quidco, then I go through them to get the bit extra off as well.

Hiking in the Spring mountains today (Mt Charleston region) and there is still a stack of snow/ice in the north facing ravines. Weird to say the least! don't know what the temp at Mt Charleston was today but it was in the 90's last week.

I had a pacifica last year, loads of space and comfortable, why didnt you want it
