JuneHi Guys,
Looking for some advice with car hire. Looking at picking up car from MGM Grand on 11th June and returning to LA Airport on 24th June. Does anyone know of any car hire companies that do sat nav included? Also does anyone know of rental companies that will do this one way car hire?
Thanks

Apriltry carhire3000.com - most will do one-way, but some will charge a fee...with CH3000, they'll let you know if there's a fee and if there is, will check for other companies that might work out cheaper...that's what happened to us when we wanted to pick up in LA and drop off in Vegas - initially there was going to be a fairly hefty fee, but for an additional £12 CH3000 changed the rental to another company with no one-way fee.
As for sat nav - it's normally a daily fee to rent one...may be cheaper to buy US maps for your existing satnav (if you have one) or buying one if you don't - at least you have something to keep at the end of the rental.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

used carhire3000 last year. LAX to Mandalay bay, 1 day hire, no drop off fee, all the various taxes plus fuel came to £30ish for a chrysler 300. same deal on the way home 2 weeks later, only difference was the car was a dodge charger.
had my own satnav so didnt need their, although they did ask if i wanted to hire one when picking up the car. the hire company was dollar.
Dont ask dollar direct about the one way drop off fees. i emailed their customer service dept and got some very !!!!!! emails from one person stating that there would be a $300 drop off fee and he was insistant this was the case, i then made a booking through carhire3000 who stated there wasnt any fees and reconfirmed this when i rang their office to make the booking.0 -

For that amount of time you would be better buying your own Sat Nav when your out there. It will work out way way cheaper. Hiring was about $12 a day i think? You can get a new Tomtom for $80odd dollars.0 -

It does depend on which company your rental is placed with by CH3000 whether there's a one way fee or not...I emailed to ask if there would be a one way fee immediately after I made the booking (total was £207.57), the email I got back said:
Regarding your email from the 2nd of January we inform you that there is a One Way Fee of 300$ plus tax for your rental through the supplier Thrifty.
We work with different suppliers between these two locations and with some of them the one way rentals between California and Nevada are free of charge. The best deal we can offer you for the 4-door Pontiac G6 with no One Way Fee is 218.29£ with the company called “Dollar”.
So of course I changed to Dollar and had no problems at all...but it's important to check.

Always worries me when i see someone hiring a car and a sat nav in a country they dont know.
Not only are the trying to concentrate driving in a new country, they are attempting top operate a new bit of technology while doing it. I wouldn't want to do it.
Anyway you can get a factory refurbished Tomtom 910 with UK, europe, USA and Canada maps from Total PDA for £89.99 here:
http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom/TomTom-GO-910-Refurbished.6626.html
Learn how to use it, and add all of your destinations before you go, it's much more fun and much safer for everybody else on the road.

before we purchased a Sat Nav we were charged $50 a week ( about £25 at the time ) via Dollar in Boston .
if you don't have your own yet then it might be a worthwhile investment . we worked out that paying £150 for this , from here would pay for it's self within 3 USA trips ( which it did , plus i used it in Ireland last year and will in Spain this ) let alone everyday UK use . we went for this make and Model because of good reviews , Mrs Trets knew how to use a Garmin already , and the Pre loaded Maps of USA and all of Europe . had no problems with it and have took it all round Nevada , California , Colorado , Wyoming , Nebraska , Utah , Idaho , Montana , and South Dakota . ( not bragging , just letting you know it works in the less touristy spots )
a quick google search found this one for under £100 that has USA maps preloaded . so you should be able to find something for your budget

Carhire 3000 did us a one way drop off between LA and Vegas and there was no extra charge . they have a very good UK call center for any questions .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
AugustBooked Vegas for the end of August for 6 nights. Flights (1 stop - with Delta from Manchester) and hotel (Grand Tower Room MGM Grand) cost £583 pp. Is this a reasonable deal? I also made sure the deal is fully refundable incase a better one comes a long so we can cancel and rebook hassle free
Also with the above deal at the MGM we get 2-for-1 (once per day) free buffet, $25 spa credit (meh...) and 2 comped gym passes. I've already sent five emails off to the MGM and get jack back, so I was wondering if somebody here could tell me how we go about getting the 2-for-1 buffet offer. Do we get vouchers when we get there? Or do we charge the buffets to our room and they take the second buffet off the bill when we leave?
Edit: Also a second question sorry, seeing as you guys are a lot more realiable than MGM's Email Service. I've put a deposit down for the rooms, but do they take full payment for the rooms when we check-in or a few days before?
Cheers guys, first time in Vegas for my 21st Birthday, can't wait!0 -
AprilWho did you book this with? sounds like a fantastic deal!!!0

I used to rave about CH3000 and used them many times without any issues. Last year I was overcharged by Dollar but didnt find out till I got my CC statement. CH3000 didnt want to know.0
