The AA sale finishes on Friday. Hope you get the flights you want at the price you want.

All booked - the flights we wanted and waaay less than we thought we were going to have to pay. £(not$!)483 - not too bad, not as good as a few years ago, but still. :) Thanks again for suggesting people keep checking AA.

We also decided to go ahead and keep our original departure day rather than shifting it one day...so 9 nights instead of 8. It did not take any time to agree on that either. Off to look at hotels.

Oh, and Garth is sold out now it looks like...so glad we got in early.

Do you book and pay on the US site ferf?

I couldn't get anything near that price, but then the ABZ-LHR leg adds on about £100pp. We are actually paying £110pp more than we did last year for the same flights with AA.

Just humour me guys......who is garth?

As Luci said he's a big country star but hasn't toured in several years as he settled down with a family. I think he's got some silly record like he's the biggest album seller in the US since SoundScan records began.

And the last time I saw him in 1996 or so I saw him at a venue that seated about 18,000 (sold out for many nights in a row there and elsewhere)...this time, 1,500. My husband has never seen him so it's quite cool. And he has regularly rolled out other artists to accompany him on stage - so could be quite interesting.

    Sorry! £483...not $483.

I really enjoyed your review/diary Gav, I'm now definitely going to book my trip with Grand Adventures!

I have another question, is there any public transport to/from the airport to the strip? My bf and I are 'budget travellers' and are staying in hostels/basic hotels all of our trip inc. Vegas where we'll be cheaply and cheerfully staying at circus circus!
If there are no decent public transportation options can anyone give a vague idea of a taxi fare to this part of the strip?

P.S I've spent 4 months losing 2.5stone. I'm now aiming to lose another 0.5 stone just so hopefully I will have no guilt in gorging on my hols. Do people find that the walking etc outweighs the excess food you eat in Vegas or do I need to plan for the worst?!!!!:p

this is probably a stupid question, but I can't figure it out on my own.

PH parking - I know that the self park is on the opposite side of the MM shops as the hotel/casino and so parking in the self park lot means a loooong walk to get to the casino (relative to other self parks). I can't figure out how you access PH's valet. We haven't parked there in years (since the one time we DID park at self-park and had to tromp through the shops for a million years) and I just can't figure out where the valet entrance would be since the strip frontage doesn't seem to have anywhere to enter (that I can recall anyway).

I think we're going to stay at PH for our first 5 or 6 nights and I'd just like to know where I'm going when we arrive. 'm used to going the back way to Paris/Bally's and think there's probably access to PH that way, but would like to know for sure.

    Anyone?

Normally you allow $20 for a taxi to strip hotels.....maybe $25 to CC as its further north. Remember to tell the driver "no tunnel".

Never tried public transport from airport so I cant help you there.

    Thank you Froggit,
as for the tunnel that was my next question as I'm abit confused on the subject. Does anyone know how much difference the tunnel makes? I've heard alot of people on here mention they always say no tunnel but also heard that no tunnel isnt always the quickest route depending on traffic flow and its abit of an 'urban myth' so to speak? Though whether its true or not I suppose it's best to say no!
