Junemmmm I wonder how many times they have heard that, having said that I will be trying the same thing when I arrive at the Wynn in Aug for my 50th along with my $20 of course.
Have you checked out the $20 trick sites for success rates
Heres one http://www.frontdesktip.com/
everytime I stay at Wynn/Encore they ask if I would like to upgrade to a panoramic/strip view for an extra $25 a night, which I decline...all the rooms are nice enough anyway.0 -

yeah i sat reading lots of sites today (whilst working of course)
People seem to have a good success rate at the Bellagio, I'm going to give it a bash for a Suite and if I only get a fountain view I'll still be a very happy birthday girl

Or book a fountain view room at PHillegitimi non carborundum0

SeptemberOr book a fountain view room at PHThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

If you really want a fountain view for less do as others have said and book PH or Paris, I have had fantastic fountain views from both for much less money and by all accounts the rooms are not that great at Bellagio0 -

its not just about having a fountain view room. i will be looking at other prices all the way up until we leave. but for my first time there and for my birthday, i think i want to be able to say i stayed at the bellagio0 -
AprilUnfortunately I don't have the time to phone up TI before the Sale finishes to see about changing the booking and I'm worried incase my email is lost in a sea of other query's.
Agree with photome - if you want to be sure you get your rate adjusted call. They are 8 hours behind us and may actually have their reservations lines staffed 24 hours a day (can't remember for sure, but in any event would be surprised if they weren't staffed at least 8 am to 10pm - so noon to 6 am UK time)...so unless you are physically unable to call today or tomorrow, it really would make sense to do so.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

The fountain view is what made Bellagio for us...as a hotel it's nice, but without the view we would have been a bit disappointed I think - but that's just us...we stayed one night in a fountain view room (booked it as a treat) and haven't considered going back as it just isn't worth the cost to us (again, others will feel differently). Success with the $20 trick will also depend on when you're going (if it's a busy time), when you are arriving (in general it's more likely to get an upgrade mid-week) and how busy the hotel is. You can try the birthday thing, you'll give them your passport as ID when you check in so they will at least know you aren't making that up.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MayWe managed to get a fountain view room for a $20 tip at the Bellagio. I also put on the reservation that it was my birthday or anniversary, can't remember which is was, and I got a certificate to take to the gift shop for Bellagio signature perfume.
Birthdays, etc are no big deal in Vegas so don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed.
I believe Denny's give you a free meal on your birthday, but Ihad no intention of going to Denny's for my birthday meal!0 -
MayTotally agree with calling the TI to have the rate adjusted. I call the US all the time and have made 3 calls this evening alone.
Failing that, make the new booking with the lower rates then cancel the original booking.0
