Thats a great deal - most rooms seem to be $49 midweek.

Can you still pop into the casino, join Players club, and checkin with your new card?

I think you can join online and then pick up your card when there

    Regarding Excalibur and $20 trick.
When I asked nicely with a tip I was just directed to look at the list of upgrades available for a fee per night. There was a list with pictures of various rooms and the price per night extra fee. I'll try to get a pic of the sign for you later.

timgtong is right...change your end destination to the south rim instead of Kingman then West Rim.

The trip is shorter, timewise, though quite a lot more miles (about 90, I think)...probably due in no small part to the horrible road the last 14 miles to the west rim . Plus the drive from Kingman to Seligman on Route 66 only adds about 20 minutes to the journey (we've done it, though in reverse - GC to Kingman via Seligman on Rte 66)...stop at the Snow Cap in Seligman for a snack - it's like no other place I've ever been.

Go early in the trip when you're jetlagged and up really, really early.

    Thanks guys.

    You've twisted my arm!

Does this look the best route then?

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=MGM+Grand+Hotel,+Las+Vegas,+Nevada,+USA&daddr=Peach+Springs,+AZ,+United+States+to:South+Rim,+Grand+Canyon,+AZ,+United+States&geocode=FUzgJgIdFKci-SkF9to_y8XIgDEQ9ohSSiXFRA%3B%3B&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=35.631265,-113.56704&sspn=2.629577,5.817261&ie=UTF8&ll=35.643905,-113.565674&spn=2.629137,5.817261&z=8

Coming back I'll just do that Route 40 road.

    Hello All

We are looking to get married in Vegas this year, well in the next 2 months to be honest is what we would like!

Im just overwhelmed with planning a uk wedding and a wedding in vegas and really dont know where to begin!

We would like to do the whole cheasy drive thru wedding thing but would like to stay in a nice hotel...all on a very tight budget as you can imagine!!

Has anyone got married out there?

Any tips an hints would really be helpful!

    TIA x
We did the Little White Wedding Chapel drive thru about 6 years ago now. Whole service takes about 10 minutes. First go to the courthouse for your licence (cost about $70) make sure if you were married before to take your decree nisi with you and a couple forms of ID. Then just drive to the chapel, (about $50) if there are cars in front of you just wait, but we drove right up to the window. A clerk does all the paperwork first and acts as the witness. Then the Minister pokes his head out and does the service while you are sat in your car (we had a Mustang convertible, white of course) and with in 5 minutes you are driving out of the electric gates to romantic music, ahhhh. For our post wedding treat we went up to the top of the Stratosphere and did all of the rides
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

That's the route we took on the way back (did the opposite to you - went via I-40 there and Route 66 on the way back). It was fine for us both ways - we did stop a few times on the way out (Hoover Dam, breakfast, petrol, etc.) and it took us a good while to get there and a good while to get back but if you drove straight through it would be a lot faster (obviously)...parts of it are pretty boring...and don't be expecting to see the canyon from way off - I was starting to worry we had somehow made a mistake on our directions - I'd kind of forgotten you arrive at the canyon at one of the higher points. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

So easy to get married in Vegas . can be as cheap ( within reason ) or expensive as you want .

we got our license from downtown courthouse ( it's round the corner from the Golden nugget , any taxi driver will know where it is ) . then got a Taxi to Little White Chapel and were married within 40 mins . didn't book it just showed up . had it broadcast over the internet for folks back home .

Limo back to our Hotel included in the price , and we then went on our pre arranged trip over the Grand Canyon in a Helicopter .

After which we had a great Mexican for our first married meal ( and a few large Margaritas as well ) .

no huge debt , no people moaning about the food , no speeches ,no pointless dressing up and no hassle . exactly what we wanted to do . some people may say it is a once in a lifetime day and that justifies a 10K , 15K , 22K wedding ( you know who you are ) , but we didn't want to paying for it for a lifetime . total cost of the wedding was about $300 . Grand Canyon trip was about £300 for us both if memory serves correct .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
