.....no huge debt , no people moaning about the food , no speeches ,no pointless dressing up and no hassle . exactly what we wanted to do . some people may say it is a once in a lifetime day and that justifies a 10K , 15K , 22K wedding ( you know who you are ) , but we didn't want to paying for it for a lifetime . total cost of the wedding was about $300 . Grand Canyon trip was about £300 for us both if memory serves correct .

Being so recently married, I have to comment trets :rotfl: You don't have to go into debt to get married, however you choose get married. If you use MSE, you should be a bit smarter than the average spender. We have no debt left from our wedding at all. You might see the speeches, dressing up etc as pointless, but to others, these are special memories and part of their wedding day. These memories cost nothing......

Ironically, if only our '6' parents and our 5 brothers and sisters (no partners) flew to Vegas for a wedding, that would be about £6.5k for flights (assuming c.£500 pp). Vegas isn't always necessarily a cheap option, but it does help spread the cost amongst all those attending......
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!

I still have an unused $50 restaurant.com voucher to give away free to anyone who would use it before 25th August.

It is for Shanghai Lilly (Chinese) restaurant at Mandalay Bay and is valid with a minimum purchase of 2 entrees or 2 prix fixe dinners. (Excludes tax and gratuity and 18% gratuity will be added to the pre-discounted check amount).

PM me and I can let you have the certificate number so you print out the voucher yourself.

    UPDATE: now gone

each to there own . i'm certainly not going to tell anyone what to spend their money on . .

Guess my little rant was aimed at the people who were almost offended and shocked that we were not going to have a huge expensive wedding in this country ( i have issues people :D:D:D) . i really thought some of them were going to say something along the lines of the great Royle Family quote " How Selfish , i mean it's a day for your Family isn't it " .

i also didn't want to get into debt like several of my friends did to finance a wedding . and at everyone of those weddings people moaned about the £35 a head food .

I have exactly 2 months left (Edit, i just counted and lost my count at 50-something days.. argh my holiday is taking ages to get here!), taking a little break from planning for the minute but will get back onto it soon!

RE: Suitcases, I recently purchased this Tripp one

it's about 1 cm bigger than the size limit for my airline Continental but for £36 i guess I can't go wrong! My airline said they would charge me $300 for an oversized suitcase so I didn't really want to take the risk!

You will have your boarding passes for the flight from PHL when you depart the UK - you don't need to check in again...you will have to recheck your bags, but everyone making a connection will and there will be a recheck area clearly marked...it's normally a matter of picking up your luggage from one carousel and taking it over to another belt not far away - you don't go back to the check-in desk at PHL to recheck your bags, it's a completely different thing and normally really very quick.

Flew LHR-PHL-LAS last October. Adding to whats really been advised but we had our boarding passes at Heathrow to take us all the way through. Had a very long wait at US Immigration of atleast an hour may have been pushing 90 mins. We then collected the bags and just dropped them at the baggage drop but did have to walk pretty briskly to the gate and made it with 10 mins to spare.

Put tumble dryer sheets in your pockets, either that or discharge the static with a swift clip behind the OH's ear, always gets a laugh:D
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
