2 weeks on Wednesday when we go, getting very excited now!

Having looked at the airport map on the PHL website, its not very clear. So anyone who has travelled through PHL, we would appreciate some advice.
When we get off the plane, clear immigration and collect our bags, do we then leave the terminal/travel to terminal B and then go to check in again at the US Airways desk?
Or is there a desk/area within Terminal A where we recheck our bags and then travel through to the other terminal?

You will have your boarding passes for the flight from PHL when you depart the UK - you don't need to check in again...you will have to recheck your bags, but everyone making a connection will and there will be a recheck area clearly marked...it's normally a matter of picking up your luggage from one carousel and taking it over to another belt not far away - you don't go back to the check-in desk at PHL to recheck your bags, it's a completely different thing and normally really very quick.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Didn't rate the buffet there as some others did, thought it over priced for the fayre, but then again where isn't these days.

Welcome back - sorry you didn't enjoy the M Resort buffet...we really thought it was great, though we went for lunch so don't know what the dinner offerings are like. Great craps story, btw. As for Wynn/Encore - we've done pretty well on the slots there - it's where my husband had his bonus on Queen where he retriggered the bonus 6 times (though it wasn't a massive win for 240 free spins) :))

Yeah, unfortunatly when we went it was dinner, and the Friday night Seafood buffet at that, $29.99 ouch!! Expected to see lobster, crab, different fish etc but all there was was Bamboo salmon?? and crab legs, I would have thought crab legs would have been on the main dinner offering anyway. As for Wynn we seemed to have a love/hate relationship with the place anyway. We always used to moan that they had the worst cocktail service in town, then read that they get voted best service, go figure. The place just seems too up its own !!!, no comped drinks even when playing bartop V/P at a dollar a roll, no B/J under $25, no craps under $15.
A funny story though this trip, we always go around the side entrance to the shops valet, but also there is a slight bare right to the Tower suites, well we took the right turn not realising and thought this is nice when two valets came out to open our door, and we walked into the lovely entrance where we were greeted by the concierge, only to then have the penny drop that we had entered the Tower suites, we had to make a hasty embarrassed exit and get back in the car and drive further on
As I said before, the classiest place we think is Bellagio and they still offer great gaming for the low roller.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I'm flying with American Airlines, and on there website it says the size per piece of baggage allowed is 157cm (length + width + height).

I'm after a new suitcase and was looking at the following Tripp one:

    http://www.tripp.co.uk/products/graphite-lite-4w-large-suitcase/136/

The total size of this is 162.5cm. Do you think this will be allowed or would I have to pay additional fees to check this in?

    Thanks

We take these whch are oversize by a fraction and they look a lot larger than anything else on the conveyer, so they do stand out as being large, but AA have never even batted an eyelid at them. But it is a numbers game, and you have to weigh up the odds, me personaly I would not chance it. Have you seen how much they charge for oversize baggage?

we have connected in Philly . was pretty painless .

you will get off the plane then join a queue for Immigration officer . assuming no more I-94's now just ESTA's but if you are given one on the plane fill it out to be safe .

after passing Immigration you will collected your cases ( literally 20 yards away from Immigration guys ), and go through customs . assuming you still get a white customs declaration slip to fill out on the plane . passing through customs usually involves no more than handing your slip to the Customs guy and walking straight through .

After customs head for bag check in of terminal B ( if i remember correct it was a very short walk that was clearly signposted ) . your cases will already have all the stickers on from when you checked in at UK . you simply hand your cases to a guy who asks you where your heading to and dumps them on the correct belt for you . that's it .

you then will need to go through Philly airport security to get to your gate . you will have you boarding passes for this flight already . if you miss it , then simply find a US airways desk ect and they will stick you on the next flight (probably have a dozen flights a day from PHL to McCarren)

US airways will answer any questions at UK check in . and you will have no problems getting assistance in PHL should you need it .

if you have time to grab a snack before you next flight, try to get a proper Philly Cheesesteak sandwich . YUMMY
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Thanks for the extra info trets. Mega helpful!

We will likely be checking in online the afternoon before, so will print our own boarding passes.

And noted about the sandwich, will take your advice on that one
