South Point are having another sale, great hotel shame it is so far out

48-hour room sale with rates from $35 begins 9AM (local time) on April 28

I'm thinking of booking south point for a few nights in June during the sale. Can anyone advise of how much it would cost for a cab from the south of the strip, say Excalibur, to South Point?

    Thanks

According to this website http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=LV it's around $26 inc. 15% tip.

That's the downside with staying that far down, if you're not driving you'll end up spending more in taxi fares than it would cost to stay on-strip. Have you thought of the Orleans ? A few people on here stay there, it's pretty reasonable and there's a free shuttle to the strip.

I'd get the bus. HERE is the info for the trip.

Thanks guys. I'm actually not planning on spending much time on the strip but I would like to travel up for one of the days that I'm there. I'm looking for a relaxing hotel for the few days that I'm in vegas (I know, it sounds like a bit of a waste!).

If anyone can recommend any hotels that are good for just getting away from things then I'd be happy to hear it. Distance from the strip isn't an issue.

    Thanks :)

    There's a shuttle.

$8/unlimited rides per day if you pay cash...but obviously the bus will work out a lot cheaper and have more options.

If you want to get away from it all, then consider the M resort. We like the place, it is good way from the strip, has some nice restaurants and a really lovely pool area. I think weekdays start at around $75. They have a shuttle from the strip.
I'd also consider Sun Coast over Summerlin way. They have some good deals going especially if you have a Club Coast card. A shuttle for residents only on this one, but it is a nice casino with a movie theatre and other amenities. Haven't seen the rooms, but have heard that they are nice too.

I also think M Resort is worth a look - we really like the place (the self-serve soft drinks are a big hit with us - the little things) and the buffet is great.

I'd also consider Green Valley Ranch or Red Rock Station neither is a particularly inexpensive place to stay from what I've seen. They also have good buffets and restaurants.

Ferf, our offers from GVR and RR are quite expensive in comparison to M Resort and SunCoast. We haven't hardly gambled at any Stations though. That could be why.

yeah, I think that RR and GVR class themselves a bit more like a destination hotel than a lot of the off-strip hotels so are more expensive...but from what I've read they are really good for the getting-away from it all thing.
