ferf, I have met you and you are NOT a lardy! I don't know why you give that impression.

I don't eat a lot (OH makes up for it) so buffets often suit me as I can pick at a couple of things rather than order one big main meal and leave half of it.

I think they are very good value for breakfast as, by the time you go to Denny's or somewhere and buy coffee and OJ, it's not much more for a wide variety of food.

I really like smoked salmon and the cost of that at a regular restaurant is usually the same as a buffet.

Not really keen on a buffet for dinner, but we will do it a couple of times per trip.

in my opinion the buffets are terrible take this from a 17 stone rugby player who likes his food, the mgm was nice but at $30 a time is very expensive. circus circus is best valus one on strip for me but a huge treck away from everywhere. When you compare the price of a Ponderossa in Orlando at $13 Vegas is so over priced. I did love the dennys opposite Mirage if nothing else then for the milk shakes

Isnt that a generalisation, have you tried them all (many)? I have tried most and some i wouldnt go back to CC being one, but most are ok, IMO certainly not terrible
IMO the buffets are not overpriced for what you get, having said that I have always got 2 for 1 everywher I have been.

I always have a couple of breakfasts at terribles buffet at $4 each on 2 for 1,and they have a fresh ommlette station and fresh waffle station, how is that overpriced? You could pay more than that just for your juice and coffee

It's all relative...I wouldn't set foot in a Ponderosa personally...but I really enjoyed the buffets we tried though admittedly we got discounts/freebies at all...but the Wynn and PH buffets are excellent quality. I wouldn't personally bother with most of the lower-end ones (I will never eat at CC, IP, Flamingo, etc - though have had a decent breakfast at Excalibur)...but we had lunch at the Silverton a couple of trips ago and it was brilliant value and good food. Sam's Town was not great quality, but at $4 each (with 2-for-1) it served a purpose and we certainly got our money's worth.

Silverton is one of my favs, their fresh pasta station is great (dinner)

Morning All just managed to get the Gatwick Airport Travelodge for £9 in the Autum Sale for the night before our trip believe me its nothing special (we've stopped a few time before) but at £9 it will do! Dates it runs are Aug 28th til Nov 28th. Just thought I would let you know incase anyone else was flying from Gatwick later on in the year :)

Thanks Cand - I'd forgotten the sale started this morning but you reminded me! :T I've now booked the Heathrow Central Travelodge for the night before our trip in September (flying Virgin but in & out of San Francisco instead of Las Vegas). Couldn't get a £9 room for the night we wanted but only paid £19 which is good enough for me and £10 cheaper than if I'd gone ahead and booked a couple of weeks ago - think we'll use the saved cash to treat ourselves to a taxi to the airport in the morning.

Your welcome I wasnt expecting it to be on for £9 with it being an airport one thought it might have been reduced to £19 (although like you I would have been more than happy at that aswell) thats why I thought I would pop it on here incase anyone was thinking like me! :)

Do tix4tonight ever have tickets available for Love?

I've tried to book via Mirage website using the 25% discount offer but it will not accept my credit card details whichever card I try. I know my cards are well within any limits so I'm not sure whether its to do with having UK address. I think I will have to risk it and wait till we get there. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem this week, whatever card I tried it wouldn't accept. However, if you phone the Mirage and tell them about it they can apply the discount over the phone. Hope this helps!

Hi ferf, thanks for the interesting experience. However, I will be interested at what your husband's experience will be next time you go to the states and you land somewhere other than LAX. I have a friend who still gets the third degree everytime she goes because her return slip got lost once years ago. Hopefully TSA has informed all their agents about LAX.....

A couple of years ago when entering the US immigration noticed the green slip was still in my passport from my previous trip (just under 3 months before so no question that I'd overstayed). I just shrugged and said the airline can't have pulled it and got a lecture I should have checked. They didn't take it but told me to mail it to somewhere in the US (I lost the address and the green slip whilst away so never did). I've entered the US at least six times since and never had any issue. I doubt Mr Ferf will have any problem at all.
